Throughout the years after the incident Megan grew resentful towards Leon, it wasn't just about how much she felt betrayed by the badge being handed to Leon, it was how her father had changed between them. She noticed how much attention Leon was getting from him, how if it's something Leon wants Leon gets.
Leon being the center of attention in school was one thing but at home was her final straw, whenever Leon tried to include her with anything she would always decline his offer. Not wanting to be near him or anything involving him.
Leon on the other hand was devastated that his friendship with Megan had now crumbled, he would do anything to get her to play with him again. Break time wasn't the same when he tried to walk over to simply talk only to have her avoid him like the plague, at lunch she would go outside to eat on her own.
Megan wasn't all alone throughout this, she made a new friend by the name of Alice Moore. It was during freshman year when she met her, and since then they would spend almost every day at Alice's house. It was good to have someone else around who's not at home 24/7.
One day Megan was lying on Alice's bed in her home, letting out a sigh, "Can't believe it's been years since then... god, how can someone like him make trouble for me? And get this, people kept asking if we were siblings from how they saw us walking home. Like mind your business."
Alice was on her bed playing music in her room as she listens to Megan, "Damn, that must suck."
"And the worst part," Megan continues, "My Dad spends his time caring about Leon's day or what stupid things he did today. But when it came to me he didn't bat an eye, like I didn't even exist. Sure he has paid attention to me a few times but it's like... Leon is his favorite... I hate it."
"That's very upsetting..."
"You have no idea... having some goody two shoes always winning my Dad's approval and getting all the glory while I stay by the sidelines..."
Alice gently pulls Megan close to her, "At least you have me, we may not be blood-related but I do consider you as my sister."
Megan gave her a warm smile, "Thanks Alice, you're my very best friend."
Alice then pulls away and lays on her bed next to her, "So what do you plan to do after high school? I mean we did graduate a year or two ago and from the sound of it, you want to get out of that house."
"I'm still waiting to get that acceptance letter to that police academy I told you about."
"Oh yeah, when do you think you'll get it?"
Megan ponders a bit, "Maybe this week or the next, but you bet that you will be the first to know."
"That's good."
"Yeah, I did my very best in school so I hoped all my efforts would be paid off. It's my dream to attend that academy, it's one of the best schools out there. If I get accepted then I can rub all of this onto my Dad's face, no help whatsoever and to prove that I did it on my own."
"Yeah, after all, you were the smartest student in your classes." Alice winks at her which causes Megan to chuckle.
"But what I'm hoping for is that aced that fitness test, I did some private training before I could even qualify to be able to be accepted."
"Really? Like what?"
"Well there is a fitness test like I said, I was told by someone in school saying that I had to be at least 20 to be able to get in."
"So what did you do before you turned 20 a few months ago?"
"Simple, I asked that person to give me some sort of fitness training and since then I trained my body every day. I'll tell you, my body ached so much after that."
