Megan then decides to change the conversation, not wanting to talk about her mother, "So Dad, if Leon is going to stay here. Where will he sleep tonight? Is he going to sleep on the couch?"
Her father gave her a nervous smile, "Actually sweet pea, I was wondering if he can sleep in your bed for tonight."
"In my bed? Why?"
"Because after today, don't you think he deserves a good night's sleep after what he's been through?"
She pondered a bit and nodded, "Yeah, you're right. I'll let him sleep in my bed. So does that mean I sleep in your room for tonight?"
"Aren't you too old to sleep with your Dad? You managed to take care of yourself just fine when I work. And you kept the house clean so I wouldn't yell at you."
"Well... yeah okay..."
"So for tonight, you'll sleep on the couch as I think of a way to set up his room. Maybe I'll clean out my study and make it into his room instead."
"Okay, Dad."
He gently ruffled her hair, "So why don't you clean up your room so he can sleep okay?"
"Yes, Dad." So she went to her room to pick up her toys. As she was cleaning up and her father was almost done making dinner, Leon came out of the bathroom holding onto the stuffy and wearing the clothes her father lent him. The shirt was baggy for him and the shorts had to be tied up so it wouldn't fall, but otherwise, he was comfortable.
He slowly walks around to explore the house a bit, he turns over to see Megan's room. Her door was opened all the way and he could see her cleaning up as she hummed. He was a bit nervous to talk to her since he didn't know her that well and didn't know what to say.
Megan looked over to see Leon nervously standing by her door, watching her. She gave him a gentle smile, "Hey Leon."
He flinched a bit at her calling him, feeling nervous about staring. She gestures to him to enter her room, "Come in, I'm just cleaning up so you can sleep here for tonight." Leon hesitates a bit but then enters her room.
Megan could see how tightly he was holding onto her stuffy, like if he let it go he wouldn't feel safe anymore, "You seem to really like Timmy, does he make the bad feelings go away for you?"
Leon slightly looked at the stuffy and gave her a small nod. She smiled, "Well if you want. You can keep him."
He felt a bit surprised that she was going to give him her stuffy, let alone her favorite stuffy as she claims, "You... you'd let me have him?..." he asked with a bit of hesitation.
She gave him a reassuring nod, "Yeah, I know Timmy will take care of you. He's my best friend so I'm sure he'll be your best friend too."
Leon felt his cheeks heat up from Megan's kindness, he wasn't sure if she was just doing this because she felt bad for him. But he couldn't see the pity in her eyes, only her warm smile. He couldn't help but have his lips slightly curled up.
After Megan cleaned her room while talking with Leon, they heard her father calling for the both of them for dinner. Megan gets up and heads to the dining table, "Come on Leon, let's go eat."
He quickly followed her to the dining table where her father was serving them dinner, "I know Megan had this yesterday, but I figured Leon would appreciate this."
Megan looks over to see him serving his special spaghetti, "Yes! More of Dad's spaghetti." She quickly takes a seat and starts eating, Leon slowly follows and sits down next to her as her father places his food in front of him.
