[07] Visiting The Bai's Manor

Zhan Chen was in his room. Currently, he was lying on his back as he stared at the pouch in his palm. He still didn't eat the medicine pill because he felt it would be wasted on him if he ate the rare treasure. He wasn't sick and he didn't need the medicine.

Sitting, he sighed and got up from the bed. He walked to his wardrobe and put the pill inside the deepest part of his wardrobe. When he was asked, he would lie to his parents and say he had eaten the medicine.

Since, the medicine was supposed to heal any sickness and he actually wasn't sick... Zhan Chen just needed to persuade his parents to accept that his memory wouldn't be able to come back.

Feeling his heart heavy with guilt, he walked back to his bed and lying face down as he held the pillow on his face. Trying to forget about the guilt, he soon fell asleep as he hugged the pillow closed to his chest.

Emperor Xian Long Wei finally decided to make today was the day he was going to visit General Bai's manor. It had been long last he visited the manor. Last was when he was ten years old. Remembering the old memory, Long Wei let out a small smile.

He remembered that small adorable ger forcing him to climb the cherry blossom tree behind General Bai's house and sing a song for him.

"Wei da ge, sing me "Little Donkey"!"

And he did sing for him.

His Father Emperor was too stunned to see him singing a child folk song since he had never really acted like a child since he was four.

It was the last he met the tiny adorable ger. Two years after, war began and it was a chaotic time for Xian country at that time.

The war lasted for seven years and the final result was their Xian country managed to conquer several countries to make a Xian Dynasty.

Remembering the good and bad old memories, Long Wei heaved a sigh. Since his empire had been in a peace for five years, he had been busy by reconstructing and bringing peace to the whole empire. The neighbouring countries that tried to overthrown Xian Dynasty was put down before they even had the time to react.

"Your Majesty, the carriage is here."

The small voice of the Head Eunuch woke him up from his reverie. He stood up from his dragon chair as his yellow robe billowing behind him with his simple but powerful movement. Behind that clothes was a powerful body fitted with muscles and strength. Following behind him were four guards that were wearing full body armor. And... hiding behind the shadow were eight shadow guards that were trained specially for the emperor.

Long Wei entered the carriage and let the horses pulled the carriage towards General Bai Jian Yu's place. The four guards were riding on their horses as they formed a square to protect the emperor. Eight additional black masked men were guarding the emperor from the shadow.

Since General Bai's house was located outside of the Forbidden Palace, near the capital market... it didn't take long for Emperor Xian Long Wei to arrive at the gate.

The guards that were guarding the house, widened their eyes as they saluted the Emperor and opened the door. The carriage entered the courtyard and as soon as it stopped, General Bai and Lady Bai arrived outside to personally greet the emperor after being informed by the Head Servant who came to him in a hurried.

"Your Majesty." Before the Bai couple could kneel down, they were stopped by a command.

"It's fine. Just stand up." After the Bai couple stood straight, Emperor Xian Long Wei gave a slight smile. "Zhèn apologise for coming here without prior notice. But, Zhèn come here today to offer a visit to General Bai's son."

"Thank you for Your Majesty's kindness. Let's go inside first. This humble servant apologies that he didn't prepare anything for your visit." As he said that, General Bai escorted the emperor into his house.

"We're not in the palace. Therefore no need for General Bai to get formal with Zhèn."

Laughing and words were exchanged between the two as Lady Bai excused himself to go to the kitchen to supervise them to ready the emergency banquet fitted for the emperor while he himself made some tea and teacakes for the important guest.

At the outside pavilion near biggest cherry blossom tree, Emperor Xian Long Wei and Bai Jian Yu were chatting about the late old emperor and his quirk about the medicines. Long Wei smiled as he regarded the general in front of him. "Uncle Bai, how's Chen Chen?"

Hearing that familiar call, Bai Jian Yu let out a soft smile. It had been long since last he heard this young man - now an emperor - in front of him called him with that name. "Xiao Chen has been fine but..."

Emperor Xian Long Wei furrowed his eyebrows. "...What happened?"

Bai Jian Yu let out a heavy sigh. "Even after Xiao Chen ate the Thousand Years of Lotus pill, he still couldn't recover his memory..." he paused and let out a sad smile. "I'm afraid, he might have to live like this for all his life."

If even the Thousand Years of Lotus couldn't cure the illness, Emperor Xian Long Wei afraid that nothing could cure the ger. Remembering that small face with bright smile, he felt a tinge of regret.

"We could try to find the other healer. Maybe, there's one out of this empire." Emperor Xian Long Wei smiled reassuringly at the older man.

"I really hope so, Long Wei." Bai Jian Yu smiled at the younger man's sincerity. "How about you, Long Wei? You're already twenty three this year, when are you going to give us the Empress?"

A long sigh made its way from Emperor Xian Long Wei. "Don't remind me of that, Uncle Bai. I haven't found the right person yet and I don't want to build the harem."

"It's just that the other ministers have been worried that there's still no heir to the empire but Uncle will always support you." Bai Jian Yu spoke steadily as he drank a tea from his cup.

"Thank you, Uncle Bai." Emperor Xian Long Wei drank from his cup and joke. "Well, maybe Uncle could introduce me to some nice gers."

Before Bai Jian Yu could say anything, a soft spoken voice interrupted him.

"Father."

Baba Bai: Long Wei ah, I'm worried that you've not married yet.

Emperor Xian: Hm.. I haven't found the right person to marry yet, Uncle Bai. (smiles)

Baba Bai: But, you're already 23 this year. And I want you to start thinking of the marriage--

Xiao Chen: Father.

Emperor Xian: (Stares dumbstruck at the beautiful young Ger and slowly, a smirk adorns his thin lips) I think I've found my future wife.

Baba Bai that was busy with his dear son turned to the Emperor: What did you say, Long Wei?

Emperor Xian: It's nothing. I've found my life.

Baba Bai: Eh?

Xiao Chen: (Shudders at the glance he receives from the strange young handsome man)
