Bai Xiu Ying couldn't sit still as he waited for his husband. He had instructed Zhan Chen to not go out of house, fearing the thunders would strike the earth again.

Teacher Yun had gone back, leaving the mother and son pair to wait for the head of the family to come back. Zhan Chen looked at his restless mother and asked in confusion.

"Mother, what's wrong?"

Holding a tea cup in his hands, Bai Xiu Ying shook his head and smiled gently, "nothing is wrong, dear. Why don't you recite a poem that you've learnt yesterday?"

Speaking of reciting a poem, Zhan Chen was not a big fan of it. He would rather learn flower art rather than read whatever an ancient poem was. He pouted unhappily. "Can't I not do it?"

Bai Xiu Ying looked at his lazy ger son and coaxed gently. "Mother really wants to hear Xiao Chen recite it for me."

Because Zhan Chen loved this mother of his and because his mother had requested it earnestly, Zhan Chen decided to forget his unlikeable to the subject and recite the poem.

"The thread in the hands of a fond-hearted mother

Makes clothes for the body of her wayward boy;

Carefully she sews and thoroughly she mends,

Dreading the delays that will keep him late from home.

But how much love has the inch-long grass

For three spring months of the light of the sun?"

It was a poem about the son's feel of gratitude towards his mother's sincere love.

As soon as Zhan Chen finished reciting the poem, he looked up at his mother and watched her reaction.

Bai Xiu Ying couldn't help but felt very moved. Though, his son just reciting the poem but she could hear the sincerity from his voice. "Xiao Chen did it very good."

After the praise from Bai Xiu Ying, Zhan Chen recited a few more poems. They talked about the meaning of each poem when the door to the living room was opened.

"What're my two most beloved gers doing?"

"Welcome home, dear." There was an obvious relief in Bai Xiu Ying's voice which made him lock eyes with Bai Jian Yu in a second.

"Father!" Zhan Chen happily said as he jumped to hug the older man.

"How does my adorable son do today?" Bai Jian Yu asked kindly as he rubbed his ger son's head.

"I was studying history with Teacher Yun when there were thunders everywhere."

Worried, Bai Jian Yu checked his ger son over. "Are you hurt in anyway?"

Zhan Chen shook his head and asked. "Teacher Yun said that the reason thunders strike the earth was because the heaven was angry that someone had made the emperor kneel down. Is it true, father?"

Before Bai Jian Yu could answer the question, Bai Xiu Ying stood up and said, "why don't Xiao Chen go to your room? Mother has something to discuss with father."

Looking between his father and mother, Zhan Chen nodded his head slowly and went to his room.

After their son leaving, Bai Jian Yu closed the door and sat down on the chair. Bai Xiu Ying looked at the grave look on his husband's face and went to sit in front of him.

He poured the tea, "how's the work?" Bai Xiu Ying asked softly.

"Like usual," Bai Jian Yu said and sighed heavily. He stared at his wife for a while, making the ger frown in worry.
