[20] This Marriage Couldn't Happen

Zhan Chen was very bored sitting in his room alone. He didn't have any entertainment besides the books, books and more books. If only he was in his modern world, he could watch dramas or maybe play games in his handphone. Or maybe read some mangas. But, when he was in his original world, he didn't have time to spend leisurely. He mostly worked, worked, and worked.

He wondered what was so serious that his mother didn't want him to go out of the room. Not until, his mother came to get him.

Looking through his window, Zhan Chen saw the cherry blossom tree still full with small pink flowers. It was so beautiful. He looked at the cherry blossom pavilion and felt like taking a nap there or maybe sneakily asked the servants to prepare him some sweets since his mother had been stricter with him after he came back from his grandfather's house.

Aiya, he wished his mother wouldn't stop his source of sweets!

While he was sighing, he heard the door to his room was opened. He quickly turned around and saw his mother and father.

Zhan Chen beamed in joy, finally, he wouldn't be bored anymore, "Mother, father!"

Bai Xiu Ying smiled and beckoned to his adorable ger son to sit on the bed. Meanwhile, Bai Jian Yu stood near the bedside table, his expression was like a stone.

Looking at both his mother and father, Zhan Chen was bewildered. He looked up at his sullen father and then, at his happy mother, "um, what's going on? Is there a problem?"

Bai Jian Yu didn't want to say anything and let his wife to break the news. He was upset that his wife and father-in-law agreed to this marriage. It wasn't like he hated Long Wei, he just generally hated all men that tried to take away his ger son. Though, no one was brave enough to ask for Zhan Chen's hand in marriage before this.

Bai Xiu Ying watched his ger son's beautiful face and sighed. He then smiled as he caressed his soft white face, "it seems my Xiao Chen has grown up."

Zhan Chen thought, 'Um, why does this topic sound so weird ba?'

"Xiao Chen ah, what do you think of Wei dage?" Bai Xiu Ying asked carefully. He had asked Zhan Chen before but that was that. Now, he wanted his husband to hear what their ger son thought about his future husband.

"Wei dage? I like him a lot. He is very kind and considerate." Zhan Chen was very very confused and bewildered now. Why would his parents ask him this?

"Is that so? Does Xiao Chen think that Wei dage will make a good husband candidate?" Bai Xiu Ying treated this topic carefully. He wanted to hear Zhan Chen's reply from his heart.

Okay, this question was very suspicious. Zhan Chen glanced at his father's gradually darkened face and his mother's somewhat bizarre smile.

"Eh, Wei Dage came today? Why didn't mother tell me?" Zhan Chen asked but then paused. He seemed to hear something about marriage. Marriage? Eh, does he hear it wrong? Big, round black eyes stared at his mother and father in confusion. "Um, did mother just say marriage?"

Bai Xiu Ying nodded his head enthusiastically, "Yes, Xiao Chen didn't hear wrong. Your Wei dage asked for your hand in marriage and we already agree. But, we want to hear what does Xiao Chen think about this?"
