AN: Hi guys, did you miss me?
Enid Sinclair’s POV:
We tiptoe into the captain’s cabin, trying our hardest not to wake up the ‘sleeping dragons’. I don't want to mop the deck tomorrow, it would literally be impossible to make it look new again.
The old oak creaks as the door opens, I freeze in place, trying to not make another peep as I notice Yoko’s breath speed up. She settles back to sleep again as her breathing calms, the other two are like rocks, nothings going to wake them up after that battle. Yoko on the other hand has always been such a light sleeper.
Once I'm certain Yoko is still asleep, I motion for Wednesday and I, to venture further into the room. We need to get all the way to the other side where the couch is.
Wednesday goes first, guiding a path towards the safe zone - the couch. The creakiness of the ship seems to be one hundred times louder now than when it was light, each footstep creating an echo that seemed to be as loud as one of the many cannon blows during battle.
Yoko shoots up from the mattress like a zombie from the movie World War Z, waking up her peacefully sleeping partners in the process.
“I WARNED YOU GUYS!” She shouts.
“Uhhh… Yoko? Where did your clothes go?” I ask, noticing she's topless.
A pile of crumpled, bloodstained clothes lie in a corner of the room. The pile is too large to be made up of just Yoko’s clothes, so clearly Divina and Bianca are also wearing similar attire to Yoko right now.
She instinctively pulls the blankets up over her torso, I mean, it’s nothing I haven't seen before and I've literally helped this girl go bra shopping MULTIPLE TIMES, but I still laugh at her shyness.
“Shut up and don't worry about it,” she mumbles, clearing her throat before sounding firm and commanding, “You two are cleaning this boat top to bottom in the morning, you got that?”
By now, both Divina and Bianca are now wide awake, rubbing their eyes, both clearly annoyed by Yoko’s outburst.
“Yoko?” I hear Bianca whisper, “what’s going on?”
“Nothing, baby, go back to bed.” she whispers before turning back to us, “ And you two better get to bed right now and not make another peep or so help me god,” She shouts, reaching over to her desk to grab a shoe, throwing it in our direction. We both dodge, but it makes a loud snapping sound when it finally collides with the floor.
We scurry over to the couch like Thing would. I wish Thing came with us, they’d be able to calm Yoko down.
“Has she ever thrown a shoe at you before, Enid?” Wednesday whispers to me as we get into bed.
“Yes, she has but not for a while. But she did just break her record of how long it's been since she’s thrown something at me.”
“What is the longest time?”
“Maybe like… two weeks?”
“WILL YOU TWO SHUT UP, OR WILL I HAVE TO MAKE YOU?”
*****
The ship sways calmly as I inhale a mixture of the gentle sea mist and a whole lot of ammonia. I sigh, wiping the dirt off my forehead with a rag as I pant in the sun, continuing to make endless repairs to this boat. Evidently, Yoko ended up finding a way to make us shut up…
“Wednesday, can you hand me that hammer?” I shout, getting ready to nail a fresh wooden board into the ship. She does as told, handing me the tool as I finish setting the last plank into place. The deck is no longer a safety hazard! Yay, I could totally be a badass construction worker. Ooh maybe that can be my halloween costume next year…
