11- LARPing?

Summary: Caine announces yet another adventure and Pomni is still a little distraught from the day before.

I woke up in my bed, surprisingly. Did I not fall asleep on the floor with Jax?

Speaking of whom, Jax wasn't in the room. Maybe he woke up early and put me in my bed. I didn't doubt for a second that Jax was strong enough to do something like that.

I stand up and stretch my tired limbs before freshening up and walking out of my room and towards the breakfast table.

(Yes I know they don't have breakfast in the digital circus, but I wanted to add it)

I spot Ragatha and Pomni talking at Pomni's door and wave, but they were too preoccupied to notice.

When I reached the breakfast table, there were already pancakes and waffles spread out with bottles of maple syrup and butter. Kinger and Zooble were the only ones present.

"Good morning, guys!" I say and they both jump a little before smiling and voicing their own greetings and returning to their previous conversation.

I sit down at my usual spot and wait for Jax. If one of us gets here before the other, usually we'll wait before eating, so I hope he gets here soon.

My stomach rumbled a few minutes later and I rolled my eyes.

"Has anyone seen Jax this morning?" I ask around the table before getting head shakes from everyone.

I get up with two plates of pancakes and make my way to his room.

I knock loudly on his door. There was no answer, so I opened the door, which he surprisingly didn't lock, and saw him sleeping, all tucked into his comforter. I smile and set the pancakes down.

I open the curtains to fill the room with the artificial sunlight the circus provided, and went to lighty shake Jax's shoulder. I voiced his name a few times before shaking his shoulder a little harder.

He finally woke up, rubbing his tired eyes and muttering a soft "what do you want?" under his breath, turning back over to the other side of his bed.

"It's time for breakfast and I think Caine's gonna announce the next adventure soon. Hurry up! You can eat along the way, I brought you some pancakes," I handed him the plate as he stood up and he grabbed the fork stuck in the middle of them, cutting off a piece and taking a bite.

We ate and chatted along the way back to the stage and everyone was gathered around an impatiently waiting Caine.

"Ah! There they are! How grateful we are for finally gracing us all with your presence!" Caine's loud voice gave off a tone of sarcasm, and I heard a small snort from Zooble.

"Anyway, today's adventure is 'Candy Carrier Chaos'! That's right, the Candy Canyon's kingdom has been robbed of their most valuable resource! Maple Syrup!" Caine announced. I was slightly intrigued, only because we haven't done much outdoor adventures since I've gotten here.

"An entire kingdom of candy? Sounds sticky..."

"Very sticky, indeed!"

"Sounds- #&$%!?#%&#!~@$%?!!@&#^%$"

Caine stares at the hovering bubble in shock.

"B-Bubble...you can't- say that..."

I look at Jax who has a confused expression. I'm sure mine mirrored.

"Mmmmmmmm...nope," Zooble turns on their heel and walks away, making Caine desperately try to keep them in the adventure.

"Zooble, wait! I-I'm testing out a new AI in this one! It should be 57 times more immersive!" Caine said frantically moving his arms around. Jax stepped up, fakely intrigued.

"Ooh, a new AI! You don't wanna mess with the new AI, Zoobie?" He asked, nudging them with his shoulder.

"Yeah, come on! 57 times more immersive isn't enough to wanna tag along?" I teased, standing on Zooble's other side.

"Uh, yeah no."

"Woah. Sounds fun! What do you think, Pomni?" Ragatha asked Pomni with a tone of excitement.

Pomni blankly stares at the ground before looking up at Ragatha. "So our...entire existence is just... LARPing?" she asks.

"Well-"

"Yeah but, there's no taxes so honestly, I feel like we're pretty set!" I lied. I lied right through my teeth.

"Why are you all just standing there?! The- The Canyon- C-Canyon Candy Kingdom needs you now!" Caine stuttered before pushing the lot of us into a portal that had appeared seemingly out of nowhere.

Well. Here goes another adventure.
