Summary: A skirt that feels a little too short, and a hotshot rabbit asshole.

Faint Japanese music plays in the background and I realize I'm sitting at a school desk in some kind of 2D nightmare of a classroom.

Kinger stood up at the front with a pair of lopsided glasses sitting over his eyes.

I look down at myself- I'm wearing some kind of school-girl uniform, a short-ish skirt that apparently I have more trust in than I have with Jax, and the top to match. Everyone else is wearing about the same, save Jax with his pants.

Speak of the devil, and he shall scoot his chair up to your desk. Kinger's voice plays on in the background as he teaches a subject he probably knows nothing about. Jax had already finished complaining about the adventure before he showed up to my spot.

"There's nothing wrong with your suggestion," Zooble says softly while looking back at a focused Gangle.

Gangle becomes flustered, her cheeks turning a cartoony red. "How'd you know this was my suggestion!?"

Jax nods over to Pomni, who was in the seat next to me, before addressing us. "Can you ladies believe this? She draws this...anime stuff and then drags us all into one!" he paused before leaning in closer. "She must be one of those...uh, losers."

Or, maybe not.

"You threw me out of a moving truck..."

"Takes one to know one, Jax. Don't be so quick to judge," I say, crossing my arms and flipping his chair with my foot, causing him to flip over and fall onto his butt.

I heard the giggles of my "classmates" around me.

"Nobody even likes slice of life anime. They're the most boring kind of anime!"

"I thought you didn't watch anime because it was lame?"

Pomni covered her mouth. "You kinda clocked his s$*t, though."

"I-I don't!" Jax stammered.

"It's okay. It takes a lot to be as...fragile as you are, Jax," I said, closing my statement with a head turn.

He scoffed and sat back up in his chair, facing away from me.

"Hurts when it's served, huh Jax?" Zooble snickers and Gangle already looks stressed out.

"Let's just- let's skip mine..."

Everyone votes yes and we're sucked through yet another portal.

A dark sky full of twinkling stars comes into vision, and I find that I'm sitting on a picnic blanket with a spread of different foods around me, surrounded by Kinger, Gangle, Ragatha, and Zooble.

I look around to spot Pomni and Jax a little ways off, laying in the grass, chatting.

Which irked me.

I don't know why now of all times, considering I was slightly upset with Jax at the moment anyway.

But in a way, I feel as though he sees her as some sort of replacement for Kaufmo or even...well, someone who was here before even I was. All I knew was that a red 'X' covered his frog-like face in the hallway near Jax's room.

"You...seem to have a lot on your mind, Sugar. Wanna talk about it?" Ragatha's sweet voice sounded in my ears like melted milk chocolate.

"I'm alright, actually. Thank you, though," I smiled my most convincing smile and she seemed content with that. She trotted over to Jax and Pomni with a little 'goodbye' wave.

"Sandwich?" Kinger asked, shoving what looked like just two pieces of bread and a slice of ham in my face.

I kindly rejected it. "No, it's alright. Go for it."

I got up to head over to the others as Ragatha stood beside a sat up Pomni.

"Since when have you cared what other people like? I thought that was like, your whole spiel?" Pomni said with a small smirk.

"I just...no, yeah. You're right, I don't," he falls onto his back in the grass.

"Do you...have any actual friends?" she asks, slightly pressing further.

I sit myself down next to Jax on his other side.

"Not anymore."

I feel his hand grip onto mine, which was settled on the grass. He sits upright, his vision set straight forward. His pupils get real small and his smile falls. I can tell he's upset, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to.

Not anymore? Are you sure? And what a cruel thing to say to someone, even when that someone is Jax.

"Ragatha-"

"Oh! I, I didn't mean it- I didn't mean to....uh, hey, Kinger! Look at that group of fireflies all the way over there!" she says, changing the subject as she trots away to the picnic blanket.

"WHERE!?"

"Jax-" I begin but don't know where I would take it even after his name.

"What was that about?" Pomni asks after a beat.

"It's....nothing," he falls back again, this time, with his head in my lap. Almost like it was some kind of apology for earlier. A silent apology. And for me, that was enough.

"Doesn't she get on your nerves sometimes?" he asks no one in particular. I make eye contact with Pomni.

"Well....you get on my nerves sometimes, too. Everybody does. That's just how we cope. We annoy each other," I say, lightly petting the top of his fur.

Pomni speaks up. "Yeah, I mean she's nice to everyone..."

Jax throws his arms up in protest before covering his face. "I don't know, I just- I think she tries way too hard. Like, we're stuck in- Why are you always pretending everything's always fine? Like, if you tell someone they're loved and appreciated every day, it just... kind of loses all meaning. It just feels like she's trying to take advantage of you, you know? I don't know..."

He shoots up out of my lap with a large smile, seemingly unbothered.

I knew he was bothered, though.

I know he hates talking about what he thinks or feels for something.

"Also, she's dumb and she looks weird!"

Pomni smiles softly. "I think we all look a little weird..."

Jax scoffs and grabs my face with his hands, puffing expressions and presenting me to Pomni. "How could you say that when this masterpiece is sitting right in front of you?" Pomni giggles and he lets go of my face, throwing his finger up in the air and motioning to himself.

"Also, I mean, Come on, you're looking at genuine peak male performance here! My ears and tail are a pinnacle of masculinity," he says and she laughs again before her face contorts. I couldn't help but let out a laugh.

"You don't have a tail..."

Jax stands up scoffing. "Of course I do...it's right- where's my tail?" He looks around for it, causing a laugh to escape Pomni and I once again.

"I don't ever remember you having a tail...this is like some weird kind of mandala effect, love," I say with a smile. I can see the tips of his ears turn pink at the nickname. He sat down, shook.

"That's...so weird..."

I hear a shout from above and look up to see Caine animatedly talking to Bubble in the sky.

And once again, the fun never lasts, and we're sucked into yet another portal without warning.
