Summary: The Inhabitants of the circus get through lunch rush and Jax decides he’ll take sugar home. He makes an interesting discovery about Caine. [A little spice towards end]
{JAX POV}
Sugar’s been out of it for a minute now, and we started lunch rush right before the gloink ick had shown up.
Her order alone took everyone over an hour and a half to put together before she along with her hatchlings were sent back out the door.
I had witnessed Pomni make a fool of herself when the Gummigoo guy had left, and I felt a twinge of sympathy for her. Not a lot, though. I wasn’t soft.
“Oh, Ja-ax?” I hear that God-awfully annoying voice from behind me. I begrudgingly turn around, acting (not really) bored. “The bathroom looks like a biohazard and needs a good scrubbin’!”
I quirked a brow. That didn’t sound like a job for me. “Uh…I don’t know, shouldn't a…biohazard crew take care of that?” I sassed, crossing my arms. Gangle's eye twitched.
“Oh Jaxy-boy. Don't you want to he a model employee?” she said and this time it was my eye that twitched.
“First of all, don't call me that. Sugar called me that once. Never again. Second, I don't care about any of this,” I said, rolling my eyes. She was really starting to let his whole “manager” thing get to her head.
Gangle giggled like a mental patient. “Well they didn't sound like a can- do attitude to me!”
“Its not.”
I could see Gangle getting physically more frustrated.
“Heh, bad…”
I thought of something.
“I like you better when you're sad.”
{GANGLE POV}
I felt my heart break.
Is they truly how he felt? How they all felt?”
I covered it up. “Maybe you just need some more…. TRAINING!”
Jax gets grabbed by two large hands and dragged into a black abyss. As much as I hated him, I hope whatever Caine has planned isn't too intense.
{SUGAR POV}
I feel someone shaking me when I slowly open my eyes.
“Jax?” I say groggily.
“Come on, Sugarcube. Our shifts over. I'm gonna drive you home tonight,” He said in an uncharacteristically soft voice, running his thumb over my cheek.
I leaned into his hand and look out the window of the break room. Have I been out all day?
“M’too tired. I'll stay here,” I say and Jax chuckles before I feel his arms go under my legs and back and get lifted up.
I cuddle into his chest and smile. His presence made me feel so calm.
He addresses the rest of the staff. “Alright, we're clocked out and out of this hellhole. This was not fun at all!”
{JAX POV}
I carry Sugarcube out to a car I presumed to be mine until I noticed the license plate.
‘COTONBERY’
Interesting. Did Caine purposefully put us into a car together? I looked around at the other cars, each of which had only one name.
Does Caine…. Ship us?
I got Sugar into the passenger seat and get myself situated behind the wheel before I slam my head onto it tiredly.
I look over at Sugar and she smiles softly at me before pleading to me with her eyes.
I sigh and lean back, patting my lap.
She clumsily crawls over the middle console and plops herself down on my lap, looking down at me.
She slowly leans in and places her incredibly soft lips on mine. I wrap my arms around her waist and pull her into me, feeling her melt into my body.
She was as close to me as possible as our lips moved in sync. Her hands found home on the fur of my cheeks while she kissed me, her body slowly rocking against mine.
Today was stressful, this familiar feeling was exactly what I needed.
But why was it familiar?
I pulled our lips apart and trailed them down her neck, living and sucking a red bride into her pale pink skin.
Then, she kissed me again. I couldn't get enough of the feeling of her lips on mine. She tasted so sweet I could love on her all night. But tiredness overtook the both of us and we drifted to sleep in each other's arms.
