~"When you see her, everything changes. All of a sudden it's not gravity holding you to the planet, it's her. Nothing else matters. You would do anything, and be anything for her."~ -Jacob Black {Twilight}

{RAGATHA POV}

I look up at the fancy clock on the wall and frown.

"We've been waiting for over an hour. I hope they're okay, those two. They alway seem to get into trouble when it's the two of them," I say, looking around at Gangle, Kinger and Pomni, who had just joined us about 30 minutes ago.

"Normally I know they'll be fine, but I am starting to get a little nervous for them. Maybe we should find Caine?" Gangle voices and I shrug as my gaze meets the clock again.

"We'll give them a few more minutes."

{JAX POV}

No matter how hard my body met the door, it wouldn't budge. I could feel tears begin to form.

"Sugar!" my voice was hoarse as I continued to bang at the door. The door finally swang open and I caught myself on the frame before I fell into the vast pool of water in front of me.

She had to be in there somewhere.

I didn't hesitate to jump in, squinting my eyes around the dark waters.

Finally, I see her pale skin within the inky liquid and grasp her ankle, pulling her up with me as I swam back to the top. My free hand gripped the doorway as I slung her up and out of the water, pulling myself out after.

I panted heavily as I looked over her. She wasn't breathing. Then, I thought, well, you can't die in the digital circus, can you? And my mind flashed back to when I first got here.

~
"And this is 'The Grounds' where you can drown yourself in the digital lake or engage in ridery at the digital carnival!"
~

Drown?

I placed my hands right below her chest and began to push up and down repeatedly.

It wasn't working. No water was coming out.

I leaned down close to her face- her calm, pale face that was framed with her soaking hair- plugged her nose and placed my lips to hers, blowing air (and hopefully life) into her lungs.

It was a repeated process of endless pumping and blowing.

Until she finally coughed up a heap of water and her beautiful green eyes opened.

{SUGAR POV}

Sputtering, I quickly look around only to find that I'm lying on the splintery wood floors with Jax right above my face.

"J-Jax?"

"Sugar, I'm so glad you're okay!" He pulled me in for a tight embrace, uncharacteristic tears flowing down his fluffy cheeks.

He pulled back and took a good look at me, his eyes glossy and a wide smile on his face, before he put a hand at the back of my head and pulled me in for a searing kiss, one that had my eyes wide.

I wrapped my weak arms around his neck and pulled him impossibly closer to myself before my eyes closed and I sunk into his arms.

He pulled back and smiled wider than I had I ever seen him, and laughed breathlessly. "Let's get out of here."

"Let's," I returned his smile.

He helped me weakly stand up, putting my arm over his shoulder so he could help me walk to the blaringly white exit door that had appeared at the end of the hallway, presumably because we had reached the normal time limit of one of Caine's adventures.

Jax reached out and turned the door knob, and we were met with the relieved and confused faces of all our friends.

"You guys made it!" Ragatha smiled, jumping up to help me over to the portal that had appeared to take us back to the circus.

"What...happened to you guys?" Pomni spoke, looking between us.

Jax and I made eye contact before smiling as he said exactly what I was thinking.

"You don't wanna know."
