{POMNI POV}

I knew something may have gone awry when Sugar stumbled up to the front of the restaurant, muttering incoherently and tripping over her own feet. Jax was at her side, making sure she didn’t tumble over and when she got situated at her spot, he looked at me.

“Keep an eye on her, will ya? I’m not sure what happened but just make sure she doesn’t do anything stupid,” he said, patting Sugar’s head before walking to the kitchen once more.

I raised a brow and addressed her. “So…what happened to you?”

She looked at me and blinked for a moment. I could tell she was a little jumbled in the head for whatever reason, but still coherent enough to withhold a conversation.

“I don’t fucking know, Poms. S-some stupid sauce?” she sputtered and I was taken aback.

“Did you just-”

“NOTHING!” She made me jump again. I looked at her through my peripheral as we both got back to doing our jobs.

I won’t lie to myself or anyone else- Sugar looked adorable when she giggled while talking to the customers. Her ponytail fell prettily over her shoulder as her tilted head animatedly moved around while she spoke. Her lips were curved in a lazy smile and I couldn’t help but look at her.

I could hear Jax and Zooble conversing back by the grills and Jax didn’t seem too happy about whatever he was bothering poor Zooble with.

My thoughts were interrupted when a thick, deep, australian accent invaded my ears.

“‘Ello, sheila! I’ll have a sausage bacon jaffle combo. And the mates here just want six hash browns split between ‘em.”

No. Way.

I stumbled over my words. “Uh- yeah, yeah, okay. Uh, are you– Do you- hi!” I smiled. I probably sounded like an idiot and I just knew my face was red.

Gummigoo looked at me, concerned. “Uh…are you alright, miss?”

I jumped up, standing up straight. “Yep! Yeah, I’m fiiiine. I’ll call your order when your name is ready, er- yeah.”

They walk off and I slap my face. “Seriously? ‘I’ll call your order when your name is ready’? Idiot!”

I couldn’t help but look off in the direction he left. He very obviously didn’t remember me, but maybe if I had the chance to talk to him a little longer, he’ll remember.

Sugar giggled and hiccuped before putting a hand on my shoulder. “I-I’ll cover the front counter- go talk to your mannnn, heehee!” she hiccuped again.

I didn’t know if I should leave her here by herself, but she was doing fine with the customers. She was just a little wobbly.

I looked back to the kitchen, seeing Ragatha was (for some reason, again, which I do not know) in the same condition Sugar was.

I looked back to her and smiled. “Thanks.”

And I went to try and get my best friend’s memory back.

{GANGLE POV}

I was walking around and doing my duties as shift manager- checking in on the employees and making sure everything is in order, when I noticed Sugar was alone at the front counter.

“What ? Ragatha, Sugar, where is Pomni?”

They both slowly turned to me and goofily smiled.

“She’s flirting with the syrup-bandit guy with the deep voice. I don’t blame her though…” Sugar giggled.

“Cause she’d rather be with an NPC than with us, or something,” Ragatha said, sighing. “I wish someone would flirt with me…”

I crossed my ribbon arms. “Well, that won’t do! Oh, Ja-ax! Come help Sugar with the register while I go find Pomni, will you?”

{JAX POV}
I rolled my eyes, sighing and making my way up. Gangle had me running around like a headless chicken, I swear.

“How you holdin’ up, shortcake?”

She looked at me and her smile widened along with her eyes. Her pupils dilated and she launched towards me, wrapping her arms around my neck and planted sloppy kisses all over my cheek.

I knew my face was flushed and I smiled only after checking around me to make sure no one was watching.

“What’s this for, toots?” I asked her quietly and she giggled innocently.

“So fluffy….” She slowly went limp in my arms and I shook my head, picking her up and taking her to the break room, setting her comfortably in a chair and kissing her forehead before making my way back to the front.

Pomni was already there when I made it.

“Sugarcube’s out for a minute. You got the register for now?”

She shrugged with a dejected look on her face.

I sighed and took my place back in the drive-thru before the ugly blob of the Gloink Queen rumbled past the window with her hatchlings following behind her.

“Uh…does this count as a bus?”
