~"The greater the profit, the greater the wages.”~
As we walked through the portal, I noticed my clothes changed. Now I wore a blackish gray suit with a visor and an apron. I looked like a fucking nerd, but they didn't need to know I thought that about myself.
I see Pomni setting up the cash register to her height before I heard a scream, Zooble plummeting from the ceiling and landing harshly on the floor. I walk over, smirking.
“Nice landing, Zoobie. Glad the tile broke your fall,” I snarked as they stood up, flipping me off and walking away. I questionably looked up the seemingly endless hole in the ceiling. Where was Sugarcube?
“Look out!” I heard said girl yell and I held out my arms, aiming under the hole.
The yelling got louder as she neared me before she landed gracefully in my arms, clad in a uniform of the same color and style.
Her eyes were screwed shut, then she opened them, blinking rapidly up at me. Once she realized where she was, a deep flush spread across her pretty face.
“J-Jax! Thanks!” She smiled her eyes darting around nervously.
“Of course, my damsel in distress,” I laughed, setting her down and catching the way her smile briefly faltered when I let her on her feet.
As we made our way to the kitchen, I couldn't help but admire how hot she looked in her uniform.
{SUGAR POV}
I can't believe he caught me.
My face felt so incredibly hot as we made our way back to where the others were.
I yelped when I felt a hand tap my ass and a whisper in my ear as Jax walked past.
“You look good in pants.”
He had that shit eating grin on his features as he walked past, my skin on fire.
“You bitch,” I said quiet enough for only us to hear as Gangle clapped her ribbon hands together, addressing the kitchen.
“Okay gang, let's get to work!”
I nodded, saluting and heading to the front counter where Pomni was. Customers started to walk in and Pomni and I took care of them with a smile.
“Oh, no! It looks like I've taken Ragatha-” I heard Jax say from the back, so I walked back to check it out. “-and dropped her in the deep fryer!”
I gasped. “Jax!”
As much as I was upset at Ragatha, that doesn't mean you drop her in the deep fryer.
“What? She yelled at you this morning!” Jax defined as Ragatha failed in the boiling oil.
I pinched the bridge of my nose irritatedly. “That doesn't mean you turn her into French fries!”
Before I could tell him to get her out, Gangle pushed me aside. “Oh, no, no, no, no! We can't have anything like that going on around here!”
Jax smirked. “What are you gonna do about it, though?”
I rolled my eyes. He was being so immature but for some reason was coming across as attractive to me. The way his hand rested on his hip and his words resonated with me from earlier.
Gangle whipped out a pink flip phone. Of which I'm not sure how she got it, and called a number. “Hey, Caine. We're having a bit of an issue with the employees, and I was wondering if you could maybe have a punishment waiting for them at the end of the day if they do a terrible job?”
My eyes widened. “Employees? You mean, plural?”
“Wait, what?” Jax was also shocked.
Gangle nodded fiercely. After she hung up the phone with Caine, Jax asked her, “Why would you so this?”
“Its called a manic episode and you're getting three more seasons!” she laughs. “Anyways. Jax, it's your job to set up the drink station, make new coffee and iced tea, and fill the ice cream machine. So, get to it!” gangle happily walked away while Jax stood, staring blankly before looking at me.
“This is weird.”
After a moment of awkward silence, I realized Ragatha was still burning alive.
“You should… probably get her out. I'm going back up front.”
He nodded and got to pulling her out while I made my way back to the front.
This really was weird. Hopefully, this adventure didn't last too long before it got out of hand. I looked at the next customer, smiling.
“Can I take your order?”
