I kick my heels against the hard marble floor as I make my way to the room at the end of the corridor. The two servants who stand guard bow their heads at me. I gesture to them to open the two-wall size- black doors, I go in and they close the doors behind me.
It's an empty dark room short of some torches illuminating a large coffin placed in the middle, a white haired man with dark crimson eyes is sitting on it, he looks up as I enter the dim light field, my heels echo in the room.
"About time, how was your little nap father?" I ask mockingly "you've put me through lots of troubles"
"Is sleeping for a year defined as a little nap for you Sylvia? Come here" he orders and waves for me to come closer so I'm standing in front of him. He lifts a hand to my face "you have my white hair, my red eyes, but even so you look so much like your mother" he smiles in a way that twists my heart.
I don't say anything, I let him take his time looking at my mother's reflection in me. "Now, let me see what I missed and the trouble I have caused you" he places his palms on my temples, thin red lines of smoke make their way inside my head then--
"how long are you planning to hide?" My father says, drops his hands and stands up, moving his sight to a spot behind me. Footsteps echo in the room as Elias steps into sight, both of them glaring at each other.
"You sure got the nerve to--"
"It's alright father" I cut in "just do what you were about to do, it's faster than explaining"
He raises an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced, regardless he places his hands again on my temples and closes his eyes.
He is reading my mind from the past year.

Since ancient times, vampires and werewolves lived peacefully far away from the humans, hiding the secret of our existence in the shadows of Yotubia with vampires in the south and some parts of the east, werewolves in the west and humans in the center extending to the north. Yotubia is the only city that vampires and werewolves chose to settle in since it has the least human population and the most woods to hide in.
Unlike what's rumored, vampires don't need to drink blood to survive, we can eat normal meals as humans and the same goes for werewolves. Blood acts just as an element for our power, which is the ability to channel the blood we drank, since it got to our circulation, to our weapons making them deadly and highly powerful, something like charging. Werewolves are able to strengthen themselves like crazy, with one punch they can tear down a tree, but this power only comes when they wolf-out which happens during a full moon, although they can, for example, transform their limbs without its presence but the effort is exhausting so they rely on weapons mostly.
Both herds weapons are made of sliver, vampires do like to dye their weapons in black just to show off the glowing red color when blood is channeled.
In addition to that, there are vampires and werewolves who possess magic, we call them elites. Their magic can be used either as it's raw form of colored aura or be projected as unique abilities, my father for example projected his magic to read my mind.
Both herds had their own rules but there are two rules neither is allowed to break:
1. Don't attack or even interact with humans, because it will endanger our existence.
2. Elites aren't allowed to project dark magic as they might end up falling in an eternal sleep, or die.
As strong as we sound like, all you need to kill a vampire or a werewolf is a weapon made of pure silver aiming at the heart since other sites are useless due to vampires and werewolves ability to heal, healing is the only ability that goes for everyone and not just elites.
Oh there is also the head, it can be chopped off.
Dark magic is forbidden not because it's well...dark but because it sucks out all your magic, which acts as a life source for elites. Deadly draining.
And so we kept living in secret and in harmony with each other.
Until 1949.
