Lord of vampires, 1930

Every five years, a vampire requests the lord for a fight to the throne in the forest in the southern east of Yotubia, whoever kills or make the other yields first will be the new lord until another one calls for a fight, and if the lord dies before the next one his child takes over the rule. I have been the lord for hundreds of years, I've never lost, but the one in 1930 was particularly difficult. Even though I won I was completely depleted, my hands are bleeding and I'm sliced from the neck to chest, deep wounds take more time and effort to heal and I'm out of the later. I was resting against the trunk of a tree breathing hard when I suddenly heard footsteps coming my way, acting to my instincts I raised my sword and lunged for the intruder only for it to be a human woman, her long black hair matching the darkness of the night, her blue eyes glimmering under the moonlight.
"Goodness are you alright? You're bleeding!" She exclaimed not minding the sword pointed at her neck at all.
What a weird woman.
I sheathe my sword and sit back on the ground "go away, this area is dangerous at night" I say without looking at her.
"I'm not leaving you here bleeding!" She rushed to me and unsheathed my sword
"What do you think you're--"
She cut her long dress to her knees, then took the fabric and started wrapping my bleeding hands with it.
What the?
"It's not convenient but will help stop the bloo-" fear flashes in her eyes as she notices my fangs, her face is pale and her breath accelerates "you are...a vampire?"
Damn I have no choice but to kill her or else she will expose us. I tried to reach my sword where she tossed it but what she did next shocked me to the core.
She pulled down her dress where it covers her shoulder, exposing the bare skin of it "drink, you need blood to recover right?"
I stare at her dumbfounded, has she lost her mind? But damn it's so difficult to resist I could really use some blood to heal faster.
"No" I grit my teeth "you don't know what you are--"
"Stop talking and do it" she shouts, staring hard at me, portraying courage but I can see her shaking.
I'm really tired to try to fathom what on earth is wrong with this woman or to think of the consequences of what I just did.
I gave in
I catch myself off guard when her head falls on my shoulder and I immediately pull away. Damn I drank too much that she is dizzy now. I set her head on my lap and fold her legs on the ground, lifts them up a bit, I stare at the two dots of blood on her shoulder as I pull up her dress back.
My wounds have already healed when her eyelids shake before she opens them and smiles at me.
She is smiling?
"Why didn't you stop me when you felt dizzy? No why did you let me at all?" i ask, still unable to find any reason that has some sense.
"You were injured and in bad shape" she simply responds "I read in the legends about vampires, turns out they were true, vampires do exist and they drink blood" she moves her sight to where my wounds were "look, it helped didn't it?"
"I could have killed you"
"I had a feeling you wouldn't" she is still smiling.
"That's a stupid assumption, don't be kind to people you don't know, especially that I'm a vampire" why am I even bothering myself?
She laughs softly, looking at me with an expression I couldn't understand then she stands up "can I see you again?"
This is a hallucination, it has to be
"Mr. Vampire?"
It's not
"No" I say, standing up as well "you can't, I can't"
"Oh that's a shame, can I know your name at least?"
For the last time what on earth is wrong with this woman?
"Issac" I don't see any harm in telling her.
She smiles brightly and it's so...beautiful "nice to meet you Issac, I'm Emily" she then turns to leave, waving at me as she disappears in the woods.
~♥~
....I've lost my mind.
It has been two hours since I've been sitting against the same tree from yesterday.
"This is ridiculous" I'm just about to leave when I hear footsteps, and rustle of bushes, then she appears.
"Issac?" She asks in the same soft voice, the moonlight is casting silver rays on her beautiful face "what are you doing here?"
"I should ask you that, this is the vampires area" that sounded harsh and I probably shouldn't have said that
"Oh...I didn't know that" she replies, her cheeks turning a bit red.
"Now you do, why are you out at such late hour anyway? What if a vampire kills you?" Why do I care?
"I..I had hope to meet you again" her face is completely red, unable to look me in the eye, adding more charm to her.
"Me too, that's why I'm here actually" the words leave my mouth before I register what did I just say, I cover my mouth with my hand like an idiot as if that would take the words back.
She stares for some seconds before she laughs softly "not as a meal hopefully?"
"No!" I shout, damn I hope I didn't scare her. I run a hand in my hair and lower my tone "we can eat the same food as you, yesterday I was...messed up I shouldn't--"
"Really?" She smiles wide and claps her hands once "in that case I'll cook something for you the next time we meet"
Next time?
"You can't refuse a woman's offer, it's rude" she winks at me with a grin, like she won some kind of a game.
And she did.
We've been meeting every night at the same tree, eating and talking about each other, revealing more about ourselves. I admit I was looking forward to it. It's when I realized that I fell in love and rules be damned I decided to propose to her and before I got on my knee she confessed her love to me, it's like my life has always been out of colors then she came into it with a brush. I pulled her into my arms and kissed her forehead, I've never desired something as much as I've desired her love.
I took her to my castle and threatened the vampires that anyone who objects or gets the word out will die in a horrifying way but to my surprise they took a liking to her, especially the kids.
After a year of our marriage, she gave birth to Sylvia, our precious daughter, she is a little copy of Emily except her white hair and red eyes, the only red that didn't remind me of blood.
I watched her grow up and fight her way to the top, proving herself as an heiress to the lord, while I was feared by all the vampires, my wife and daughter never did.
Until 1949.
