I run as fast as I can.
I need to find a way to get rid of them. I can't throw them all at once because I'm positive there is some kind of a flammable liquid inside a glass bottle wrapped with the rope, that would explain the shattering sound I heard, if that liquid seeps out to the ground and a torch ignites it accidentally...I don't want to think of that.
So for now, let's get this sack as far from the humans as possible.
The night grows colder and wind slaps the faces of the unwelcome guests, challenging the walls of flame.
Some humans fire their guns at me but Elias shields me fast taking two bullets in his shoulder before he storms at them and slashes their throats
"Are you alright?" I ask when he catches up with me
He nods "whatever happens, don't stop"
I don't like the sound of that.
Others come with their daggers, I duck and dodge leaving the killing for Elias and run past him.
I regretted it immediately.
I hear him scream.
I look over my shoulder horrified and see a human has stabbed his dagger in the middle of Elias' chest, close to but not in the heart and I almost let out a sigh of relief when that human pulls his dagger out.
Its end is glowing in a hot, terrifying orange. A burn cut.
Elias can't heal it.
I need to get to him but I will risk losing the sack...Where on earth are Ikaros and father? They suddenly vanished I can't see them anywhere.
"Keep going!" Elias yells "don't stop!" His claws slash the human in the abdomen as another three sprint to him
My heart twists and my legs beg me to go back but I run.
My waist spits more blood but I run.
My arm is throbbing but I run.
I'm close to the empty clearing. Just a little more.
A bullet hits my leg and I fall.
"You're such a trouble" James says, footsteps drawing closer to me "to know that I will find you here as one of these monsters?" he shakes his head.
I try to reach the sack where it fell from me but he stomps on my back and I scream, unable to move.
"That won't do" he flips me to face him and pins my arms behind me by putting a foot on my ribs and I gasp, air refuses to aid me, hot blood escapes from my wound "I want you to see me kill you" he leans close and stops when his face is inches from mine then sticks his gun on my chest "such a loss to your beautiful face"
"You can go to hell" I spit blood on him
He scoffs "choose a better last word next time"
"Sylvia!" Elias yells, striding to James
"Take another step and she dies!" James pushes his gun deeper and Elias freezes, his glare is hard.
James lets out a laugh as he looks at Elias, giving in to his pride and ego that his foot slips slightly, which provides me with the ability to free one hand, but I still can't take out a knife.
James is too busy insulting Elias and says things like 'you should have known better to make me your enemy' to notice me lifting my hand slowly and take the hairpin.
Then dig it right in his eye.
His free hand goes up to his eye as he screams and I disarm the other from the gun easily and toss it aside. Elias strides to him and knocks him off me, I force myself to stand against the objection of my wounded leg.
James is still screaming when Elias slams his face in the ground. He does it several times until James' face is no longer recognizable and his scream dies and his limbs still.
"Sylvia!" Elias rushes to me and helps me stand, I glance to his chest and the time stops.
My stomach drops, terror digs its cruel, cold claws in me as I lift a hand to Elias' cut
It's his lung.
"Elias--"
"I'm fine" he says but his shallow breaths say otherwise "I'll pluck out the bullets to heal you"
I'm about to argue but I hear a familiar voice shout "throw it!"
I look behind me, it's Ikaros and father, projecting two massive spheres of magical aura, one is silver colored while the other is red and both are filled with water.
Did they go all the way to the lake, summoned all of its water and carried it here?
"Throw it!" Ikaors shouts again, he tilts his head at the sack
Elias walks over to it, lifts the sack and throws it at where Ikaros is standing, glass shatters and a dark liquid seeps out, a stupid human spots that and tosses a torch at the speck of the dark liquid and a massive fire erupts, extending to the sky like a bomb but it lasts for seconds as both father and Ikaros jump so high, break the spheres in the sky and a flood of water soaks the earth, putting out all the flames, leaving no traces other than the black smoke.
Humans' eyes go wide as they lost their advantage while grins and smirks flash the faces of the vampires and the werewolves, pulling up themselves. Now it's the traditional, silver weapons again.
"He is dead!" Someone shouts, pointing a finger at James' dead body and everyone's attention shifts to him.
Elias slides my arm on his shoulder and helps me to walk but suddenly all the humans toss their weapons to the ground and everyone freezes. Silence.
"Please spare us!" Someone pleads, talking to father and Ikaros "we knew we were doomed once we no longer possessed the bombs but he" he points to James "threatened our lives if we don't come up with an alternative and fight. We knew it was a death sentence to us!"
"He forced us to hunt you!" Another one says "we wanted to give up after the first troupe resulted in many deaths and losses to us. You never attacked back unless to defend but he kept threatening us with our loved ones!"
"We shouldn't have killed that lady, we brought this to ourselves" a voice breaks and father's eyes darken, curling his fists, Ikaros puts a hand on his shoulder.
Elias squeezes my hand and I return the gesture while keeping my mouth shut. They had the right to be angry for the seven I killed but father had the very same right when they burned my mother without at least listening to what she had to say.
"Let us go and we promise to never take a step to your areas!" Several people say.
To my surprise, Ikaors doesn't say anything, he just glances at father who offers him a nod.
"We won't show any mercy if you break your word" Ikaros warns
The humans nod and murmur words of gratitude then they flee, gradually disappearing in the center of Yotubia.
While the two sides lost a number, it's better than fighting each other to death and soak the earth with hatred, tragic and blood.
