James claps his hands.
"Enjoying the party Sylvia?" he says with a smug face
"I was" I cross my arms, I think that was disrespectful but I don't care
Elias drapes his arm over my shoulder "evening sir to what do I owe the displeasure?" Elias tilts his chin
Never mind, he just showed what disrespecting means
James narrows his eyes "don't you know who I am?"
"Oh we are playing guess who now?" Elias mocks and some humans laugh
"Sure. Here is a hint" James takes out a gun and points it at Elias, some humans gasp but he doesn't even flinch
"That's a good hint, what do you want?"
"I want her"
"I object"
"I don't take objections"
"I object that too"
"Maybe I didn't make myself clear" James hold's tightens on the grip
As much as it was fun to watch it's time to get to business
I slide from Elias' arm and walk to James who grins when I stand beside him. He lowers the gun and holds a hand to me
"I don't dance twice" I'm not going to dance with him there is just much I can tolerate
He raises an eyebrow "still with the same attitude I see? Two can play this game" he points the gun again "I'll get rid of him so he doesn't snatch you the next week" he is about to pull the trigger but he freezes, Elias whistles and humans gasp again
I know Elias can avoid a heart shot and will heal any other injury but my instinct had other saying on the matter.
I now get it, all the times when Elias said it's not about his life.
Because this knife is out for him, not me.
"Pull that trigger and I guarantee you won't like what will happen next" I hiss, bringing the knife closer to James' neck.
He laughs "what? You're going to kill me?"
"I don't have that mercy" I push the knife more and red is out.
A hint of panic appears but replaced fast by amuse, he laughs again, louder this time.
Interesting, if I read that right then maybe I should keep destroying his ego.
He lowers the gun "you must come with me to see what a mistake you've just done, you don't want me to be your enemy" he offers his arm
I sheathe the knife and take his arm "I'll be the judge of that"
He flicks his fingers and the lights and the music are on again. Humans get back to dancing like we didn't just make a scene.
I glance over my shoulder at Elias and give him a quick nod as he disappears in the crowd.
James is leading me to the end of the hall before we stop in front of two metallic doors.
He presses a button and the doors open to a small chamber with several buttons inside, he goes in and I follow.
He presses a button and the doors close then the room moves upward.
This thing goes up and down through the building and if I remember correctly, mom said it's called an elevator
"You're more interesting than I thought and I must say your dress will take some credit to it" he glances sideway at me with a grin but I ignore him
The elevator stops and the doors open to a large, glassy room draped in the same colored lights from downstairs but the music is barley audible here. There is a rectangular, golden table placed in the middle with lots of empty glasses on it and six men in black suits seated across each other, blabbering about something, leaving the seat at the head of the table empty. James walks to it but one of the men blocks his way
"Seriously when are you going to stop? We can't keep track of more ladies" he is blonde and has the same blue eyes as James but he looks a bit younger
"You don't have to worry, she is the only one who will come from now on"
I suppress a grin, I read it right.
The young one narrows his eyes "what's special about her?"
"She pointed a knife at me"
The young one's eyebrows shoot upward before he yells "are you insane? Why would you bring her here--"
"Because this woman made me interested in something other than beauty" James walks past him "and if she is a threat then it's more the reason why she should be right at my side" he takes his seat then grabs me forcefully and sits me on his lap and I'm so tempted to dig a knife in his thigh.
"Now" his tone completely shifts to a cold, serious one, his gaze is sharp and everyone shuts up, the other blonde takes his seat "where were we?"
