Elias has pinned Agatha with a knife to her throat.
"Elias!" I rush to them
"Don't come closer" he hisses and pushes the knife, a line of blood seeps out and I stop.
Should I force him away? No, he won't stop at an electric shock and I won't risk Agatha's life but will he really do it? The way he is looking at her tells me he has the intention. A real one this time.
"Have you lost your mind!" Agatha yells, horrified
"Just answer one question human" Elias snarls "it will be your sentence so think carefully"
"Sylvia!" She pleads to me
"Don't look at her you answer to me now"
"Elias" I take a step forward
"I said don't come" he says without looking at me
"And I'm ignoring you" I take another step "you want answers, you can't have them when she is dead"
"I know exactly where to cut, I can keep her alive with unimaginable pain until I get what I want then drop her dead" he growls
"Elias--"
"Why didn't you say anything? Why didn't you tell us, tell her about the kidnappers?" His grip hardens as Agatha tries to shove him away in a failure attempt, fueling his anger even more.
"I forgot!" She shouts "do you know how difficult it is for me to focus on my work and help you two at the same time? To pretend I don't have mythical creatures living under my roof?"
"I don't give a damn about that! Sylvia was about to die!" Elias grits his teeth "unless that's what you want and trust me if she did die I will make you wish for death than dealing with me"
I was about to try knocking the knife out from his grasp but I actually stop. He jogged my memory about something.
Agatha told us everything she knows about James, except one thing.
That he drugs people.
She didn't warn me about it. And now this.
"Of course not! Sylvia knows that!" she looks at me "tell him! Why are you just standing there?"
Despite what she said that night, a part of me now doesn't believe her and she just called me a creature, she doesn't see me on her level.
"Yes" I reach to Elias and place my hand over his and pull it back slowly and Agatha breaks free, glaring at him "she just forgot" our eyes meet and I hope he is able to read mine
I sigh in relief as he sheathes his knife back. He gives my hand a quick squeeze then lets go, heading out.
"Control him Sylvia or he will have to leave. I don't want to watch out for myself in my own house" she goes to her room and slams the door behind her
It's going to be so awkward in the morning.
~♥~
Well...it's awkward.
Elias didn't even have breakfast, he left as soon as he woke up while Agatha and I are eating silently.
I don't have time to fix this atmosphere and I honestly don't care, tomorrow is Sunday.
I'm finally getting something useful.
"Your face is funny" Agatha's voice startles me.
I look at her, I'm starting to have different thoughts about her after yesterday "I'm thinking how to approach James" I encountered him twice but I still can't read him other than an arrogant spoiled brat
"You don't" Agatha says, shoving a full spoon
"What?"
"You don't approach him, let him approach you. Once he knows you're after him it will be a dead end since he has zero interest in women who chase his attention" she rolls her eyes
"So I should just ignore him?"
"You catch up fast" she points to my plate then stands up "you should eat properly"
"You don't have any day off?"
"Just tomorrow" she picks up her keys and heads to the door "do you mind to cook me something? Your cooking reminds me of my sister"
I manage to nod
She smiles then opens the door and leaves
That's what it takes, just mentioning my mother is enough to summon back the guilt of what I did all over again
I see a movement in my peripheral vision and turn, Elias is slipping in through the window
"What are you doing?"
"She locked the door" he jumps in
"Were you waiting outside the whole time?" I stand and walk to him
"Not really, I went out and bought coffee to enjoy myself while I wait" he throws himself on the sofa "I'm done with going out anyway, all that acting is tiring"
"You can't avoid her forever you know. You actually need to stop the 'frighten first' approach of you to make people talk"
"It worked, it reveled that she thinks about us like the rest of the humans, we are just creatures in her eyes. Personally I don't mind but you're her niece" he drops his elbows to his knees "can I kill her?"
"No"
"Then can I kill her before we leave?"
I sigh and shift the subject "you didn't have breakfast" I gesture to my untouched pancakes
His eyebrows furrow "ever since we got here you've been barely eating"
"I don't have an appetite" he noticed?
"What's wrong?" He asks softly
"Nothing" I guess I've become an open book to him
"You're lying" he says with certainty
"Doesn't that mean I don't want to tell you?"
"You didn't regret it when you did" he shifts in his seat
That's true, but I'm not sure about this one
We stare at each other for a minute, a silent reassurance in his eyes makes its way to me, soothing and gentle. I give up and sit beside him
I take a deep breath to calm myself and fail "I..I think it's actually me who got my mother killed, and it's probably my fault that our existence got exposed"
