"Are you going to tell me what on earth did you mean by that? And can you slow down a bit?" I shout behind father as the three of us are heading west.
"You will know soon"
He never gives me a clear answer "fine, then can I know where we are going? The sun is going to rise after four hours and unlike me, you can't tolerate it"
Father chuckles "flexing yourself are you? We are meeting the lord of werewolves"
Elias tenses beside me.
"Why? Let me guess, I'll know soon?"
"You're getting it" he says mockingly. We make our way, passing by glaring and murmuring werewolves before we stop in front of a massive castle, I can hear Elias' name being mentioned several times in their murmurs but he doesn't look at any of them or bother to say anything as we climb the stairs to the doors.
This castle is like our own in size but while ours is black this one is silver colored and with different design, more towers and more gates, we move to the one in the middle.
Father slams the doors open, clearly not waiting for the permission to get in. The doors lead to a hall with silver colored walls and hard marble floor. Father walks to the center of the hall and stops at a white staircase where the werewolves lord is standing on the top of it. He literally jumps the whole thirty stairs and lands on his feet in front of my father.
"What on earth are you doing here?" The werewolves lord asks harshly, murder is his eyes.
"Nice seeing you again Ikaros, it came to my attention you requested for a meeting?"
"You surely got the nerve!"
It takes only milliseconds to blink, yet I missed what resulted in the scene before me.
The werewolves lord transformed hand is gripping my father's neck, my father's sword is pointed at the lord's heart.
"I didn't come to fight Ikaros" my father manages to say "in fact, I came with a solution to our problems"
"The only problem here is you! You're the reason for everything that's happening to us!" Ikaros yells
"Can't you at least listen to what I have to say? And just for the record, a heart stab is faster than cutting my air supply"
Ikaros glares at father for seconds then he huffs before releasing him. "Follow me" he orders then climbs the stairs leading us to a long corridor, we walk it down to reach a hall illuminated by gold chandeliers. There is a large circular table at the middle of it with six velvet chairs around it.
Ikaros takes one of the seats and my father takes the one across from him. I take my own next to father and Elias sits next to me.
Ikaros doesn't even bother to hide his disgust as he looks at me, but it quickly shifts to shock when his eyes land on Elias, I guess he noticed his presence just now.
"Elias? I thought you were dead?" Ikaros asks but Elias doesn't respond, just lowers his gaze.
"What are you doing with them? Did you betray us!" Shock transforms to anger as he slams the table.
"I didn't! I was forced into this for the sake of werewolves!" He yells, curling his fists and gritting his teeth hard his teeth might crack.
"Do you think I will believe such--"
"He is telling the truth" I cut in and rest my face on the back of my hand and narrow my eyes at him "need I remind you that i killed half of your army? He is mine now"
"You little--"
"Now" father clasps his hands "why don't we get started? I'd like to be done with this as soon as possible, the sun is about to rise you know" he glares at Ikaros then goes on "humans didn't exactly discover where we are settling and that's precisely why we can't attack back just yet, we will lead them straight here, but they have crossed the borders, killing whoever has happened to be close. Giving the killing rate of both parties, I'd say they are heading deeper to the west but their progress is slow. And we have to let it stay slow so each three days send some werewolves to the borders so humans don't go deeper when they don't find anyone, I'll send vampires as well"
The borders aren't really something physical, they are magical wards empowered by some of the most powerful elites, it's like a massive mirror we are hiding behind. If a human walks close to them he won't see anything short of the ordinary scene of the trees, but if that human crossed the borders, walked through them without noticing, to someone's else eyes, he will look like he suddenly disappeared, as if he entered an invisible magical gate. While that human will see any vampire or werewolf that happened to be there.
"You want me to send them to their death?" ikaros stares down at my father "are you mad?"
"Theoretically no, that will depend on their strength to fight the humans. they will buy us time"
"What are you trying to say?"
"I'm saying, that silver weapons aren't enough for the humans, when they kill one of us at least five of them die during the process, even though they outnumber us they are powerless so the humans will think of other ways, quicker ways to kill us" father pauses, letting his words sink in "my plan is to send someone to spy on the humans by blending in, acting as one of them, reporting whatever information they get so we can plan our next move accordingly and if possible, they can destroy the new weapons humans are developing, that will stop a war before it even starts"
Silence falls for what feels like eternity.
Ikaros breaks it "if they are powerless, we can attack back and finish them"
"Are you willing to sacrifice our women and children in the process?" Father raises his eyebrows mockingly "and I just said they outnumber us, it's not like they won't wear us out" father responds
"And who that spy would be?"
Father just smiles then raises his hand, pointing a finger at--
Me.
What the--
Ikaros looks utterly disgusted as he shouts "you seriously think i will trust her? After what you did--"
Ikaros eyes go wide as he looks at the sword pointed at his throat.
"You really should learn when to shut up" I hiss, glaring at him as I dig the pointed end of my sword deeper, a line of blood seeps out and stains his white shirt collar. Elias rushes to me and grabs the sword with his hand, his blood staining it as he tries to move it away but I stand still, gripping harder "servant" I order "stand aside"

He doesn't
The mark on his neck glows and electrifies him. He screams in pain but still not letting go till he finally trembles and I spare no second, I kick his knee and cause him to collapse to the floor, breathing hard as the electric shock stops.
"A blood contract?" Ikaros asks, a hint of fear fills his voice when he spots the S letter.
I'm really pissed off right now, he keeps repeating the same thing like a damn parrot I might really chop his head--
"Sylvia, lower your sword" my father orders behind me, I glance over my shoulder and meet his hard gaze. I let out a sigh then sheathe my sword back.
"As you know Ikaros, Sylvia is a dhampir. Unlike vampires she can hide her fangs, walk under the sun and she is an elite. She is the best option to blend in and you just saw her strength. Moreover, she won't be alone, Elias will go as well, but if you have any volunteers willing to do the honor then please go ahead" my father says sarcastically, resting his chin on the back of his locked hands.
Ikaors scoffs, lifting his chin "in your dreams, a vampire caused the mess then the vampire fixes it I won't send any of my men to clean after you, if you hadn't met that filthy human--"
It's my father's turn to lose his temper this time. He flips the table and strides to Ikaros in a blink, his sword is at Ikaros' heart but deeper this time, he already cut the first layer of flesh as blood pours out.
"Don't you even dare calling her filthy again or I'll chop off your hands and shove my sword in your throat and let it stuck there giving you an endless torture" my father says in a tone that makes me shiver, heavy tension hovers in the room before father pulls away, heading out to leave.
