It's almost dusk.
I've been wandering aimlessly for probably an hour before I passed by a park and decided to go in. It's beautiful, finally some green to see, there are flowers, grass, and trees everywhere and the caramel color that's bathing the sky is adding just more to its beauty.
I take a seat on a bench, I cross my legs and rub my chin.
"Seven people's death" it has been running in my mind for the past hour. It rings a bell but I can't seem to point it.
Come to think of it, I never came upon why the humans accused mother of witchery. I mean yes they saw a vampire holding her, who also killed hundreds of them but they were burning her before we arrived and I'm sure father never left the borders except this one time.
I don't know what got my mother killed.
Many things happened at the same time that I overlooked this. I'll have a talk with Agatha tonight.
I'm about to stand but I spot Elias from a distance walking with a...girl? Hold on I think he is even holding her hand and wow he is smiling? I grin, interesting, I found something to tease him with.
They stop suddenly. Elias bows and kisses her hand before he turns and leaves her starring with affection at his back.
The heck was that? All that blabbering about James yesterday and damn it he even kissed me, I'm such an idiot for thinking there was something--
"We met again sooner than I expected"
A familiar voice startles me and I stand and take a defense position.
"C'mon I told you I don't hit beauties" James says, grinning wide. The same two men from yesterday are standing some inches behind him.
He steps forward and I take one back.
He stops and narrows his eyes "you're from the north?"
I nod, ready to palm a knife if necessary regardless what Agatha said.
"I suspected that from your attitude with me, most people here are" he pauses for a second "lets say scared, or afraid? You will hear some words soon"
"I did. James Carlton" I snap
"Oh so you already know who I am" he strides fast and grabs my wrist with one hand and holds my face with the other.
"Interesting" he leans in "since you know my name can I now have the pleasure to know yours?"
"Sylvia" I try my best not to spit, he is handsome yes but he is also a scum, a killer and a womanizer. A terrible mix
He smirks "Sylvia huh? I'll remember it" he draws back and pivots, the pair in black follow.
"I'll see you on Sunday" he shouts without looking back.
I've had enough share of this for one day. But I'll consider this a small victory, he found me interesting and wants to see me on Sunday.
~♥~
"Still some time before midnight" I sigh. Agatha really works till late hour. I had supper, snoozed for some time and now I'm lying on the sofa.
Elias didn't come back as well, pretty sure he is out there flirting. It hasn't been long since we came here and yet he is--
"Dhampir!" Elias slams the door open.
Speaking of the devil.
He strides to me "this thing kept following me all the way here, it didn't even fly away when I tried to spook it"
I sit up to see what he is talking about and gasp "what are you doing? Let it go!"
"I told you it kept--"
"I know idiot and I'm telling you to let it go!" He is holding a bat in a fist as it struggles to fly out of his grip.
He lets go and the bat flies to me before going down to stand on the floor, transforming to one of the castle's servants, Albert to be exact.
"What the--"
"Are all werewolves dumb like you?" Albert glares at Elias, flashing his fangs before he bends a knee and bows, holding a palm to his chest. "Your highness. The lord has sent me to convey your report, it has been three nights"
I nod and take out a very small folded paper. I folded it many times so he can carry it.
"Here. Tell my father the next one won't be before Sunday"
"Understood" he transforms again, takes the paper with his small feet and flies out.
"Vampires can do that?" Elias asks, taking a seat beside me.
"Naturally. You're not the only ones who are able to transform" I say without looking at him.
"What about you? Can you do it?"
"No, what's with this question?"
"Curiosity" he splays his arm on the sofa behind me "so healing and transforming are out what else?" He asks mockingly.
I shift away from him to the end of the sofa "that's none of your business"
"Where were you earlier? I took a walk but didn't find you" he slides to me until our shoulders touch.
"Again, that's none of your business" I cross my legs and arms.
He grabs my chin and turns me to face him "someone is in a foul mood tonight"
"Don't touch me" I try to shove him away but he doesn't budge, damn him and his muscles.
"I'm afraid I can't do that you're lovely to touch" he smirks that stupid, beautiful one.
"Such an ideal womanizer" I pull away and stand up. As James alone wasn't enough already.
"What are you talking--"
The door opens and Agatha comes in. Good timing.
"Evening you two" she yawns
"Busy day?" I walk to her and take her bag and she collapses on the sofa.
"You can say that" she takes off her glasses and rubs her eyes "thirty five patients came with severe injuries, claws and sharp weapons marks all over them, we managed to save ten only"
Both Elias and I are silent.
"I know you guys are defending yourselves but you're the ones who started it"
Screw that, humans killed the lord of vampires' wife what would they expect? But of course they didn't know that.
But I still blame them.
Elias is about to argue but I speak first "Actually there is something about that I want to ask you, if you don't mind"
She moves her sight to me "of course just wait for me to take a shower and eat something"
"I made some food for you, it's in the kitchen"
"Oh? Thank you Sylvia that's kind of you" she smiles then stands up and heads to her room.
"Do you want to poison her?" Elias jokes but I ignore him and head to my room.
"Wait--"
I slam the door shut.
