You or me

Stepping outside and into the the allay way, I turn towards Prowler. "Just so you know, if we don't do this job as quickly as possible, you and your uncle will both die."

"We already understand the circumstances." Aaron steps in, putting a hand on his nephews shoulder.

I glance at Miles, reassuring myself that this will work. It just has too.

Opening a portal to Miles home universe, they jump in.

"Hey, y/n? You coming or not?" Miles asks, popping his head back through the portal. I stand uneasy; feeling something just isn't right.

Waving him off, I look at the building above us. "You go on ahead. I'll be there in a minute."

"...ok." Miguel begins to leave before I stop him.

"Miles,"

"huh?"

"Don't let the others do anything without me." I warn, pointing my finger in front of me.

He shrugs it off, "ok, ok, just hurry."

I close the portal behind him, looking back up at the building in front of me. Lifting myself up to the top, I scan up from above. Despite the loud roars of traffic and howling wind, I feel strangely at ease this very moment. I think through all the emotions i've felt through the day, this is the very moment I can give myself a little break. Even if it's only for a second-Just until Miguel gets here.

"y/n."

I know that voice all too well. He's here faster than I anticipated. Turning around, Miguel found himself standing before a group of fellow Spider-Men.

"Hey." I smile sheepishly. "uh- I see you found me."

"Where is Miles?" He walked up to me as the others closed around me. I twist around, hoping to find a way out. Peter and the others were missing; had they turned away from Miguel like I did?

"Whoaaa, well hello there. You look even prettier up close." A man from beside me lean in my eyes sight, smirking through his mask. I stare at him, incredulous, as he continues to spout nonsense. His torn-up sweatshirt hangs loosely over his suit, giving off a trashy vibe.

"Thank you?"

"Alright, move." Miguel pushes the guy out of the way, towering over me. He hesitates to speak, staring down at me as his breathing becomes sharp. "Where...is...he?"

They were already where they need to be. In fact, I'm spending more time than I should here; the others will get concerned if I stay too long. Shrugging, I look out towards the city, "Not sure, somewhere around here."

Miguel grunts, turning towards the others. "scour the area. Report back to me when you find them." The other nod before swinging their individual ways. I can rest assure knowing they won't be able to find them. The others weren't smart enough to think outside the box.

"So are you going to tell me where you put Miles?" I flinch, looking back to see Miguel in his same spot.

"Why would I do that."

"You know why." He starts to circle around me, hoping to figure me out from the outside. "Your idea is foolish, can't you see that."

Anger flickers in me as I twist to meet his eyes covered by the mask. "Did you ever think that maybe if you listened to my plan that you could be on board with it?"

He chuckles in disbelief, crossing his arms. "No, not for a second."

"Well then...maybe you should."

He straightens his back, looking into the night sky. If it weren't for the mask, I could have seen the wheels turning in his mind. It irritates me not ever knowing what he's thinking. He could be thinking anything—that's the scary part.
