Chapter 12

Annie Cresta POV

I am so excited for tonight. Tonight is our winter school dance, and I'm going with Finnick. We have been dating for 4 months now, and it has been the best. We'll expect the fact he kissed Clove, but he said sorry and promised not to do it ever again. I decided to wear a white dress with puffy sleeves and white heels. I heard a knock at my front door. I opened the door, and it was Katniss, Glimmer, Clove, and Johanna. "Come in!" I said. We were all in our dresses, but we were going to get hair and makeup down together. We went to my room, and Glimmer wanted to do my hair, so I sat down at my vanity. She put my hair in a braid and then put it into a bun. She put light makeup on my face, and then the rest of the girls took turns who got to get their hair and makeup done. Once everyone is done, we drive to school. When we get there, Katniss and I walk over to a table. We talk until Delly Cartwright comes over. "Um Annie, I think you have something on your dress. I think I think you're on your period! Look, everyone! Annie's on here, period, and blood is all over her dress!" Delly snickers. Oh crap. Why today and why when I'm wearing a white dress. I'm so embarrassed, so I run to the bathroom and go into a stall and lock the door. I cry until I hear someone knock on the stall door. "Hey Annie. Are you in there?" I hear Katniss say. "Yes." I say, unlocking the door. "Do you need a pad or something or not?" She asks. "Yeah, I need one." She hands me one and closes the door. I put it on and walk out. "So what are we going to do about my dress? It's ruined, and the dance hasn't even started. We hear a knock on the bathroom door. "I wonder who that is considering they could just open the door." I ask. "I don't know. I will check who it is." Katniss says. She opens the door, and I see who it is. It's Finn. "Annie, what happened to your dress!" Finnick yelled. I ran into a stall. I didn't want him to see me like this. He would probably think I looked ugly. My makeup was smeared, and my dress was a mess, and so was my hair. "What do you need, Finnick." Katniss asked. "I need to see Annie." He protested. "I don't think she wants to see you right now." Katniss said. That's very true. I don't really want to see him. I don't really know why. "Ok." He says, sounding disappointed. "I just wanted to make sure she was ok." He says. I decide to walk over to him. He sees me crying and hugs me tight. "Oh, Ann. What happened." He says, stroking my tangled hair. Glimmer shows up and pushes past Finnick. "Ok Annie, I have a new dress for you! I also have makeup so we can fix your makeup." Glimmer says. She fixes my makeup and hair and I change my dress. I walk out of the bathroom, and Delly and her gang laugh at me. Finnick glares at them and puts his arm around me. We dance, eat, and talk the rest of the night. Finnick and I walk to the beach. We walk into the cold water and look at the stary sky. "Thanks for making this night way better than it was before." I say. "No problem." He says. He then kisses me on the lips until we hear someone clear their voice. "I knew I would find you two lovebirds here." Katniss says. We look at her embarrassed, and she smiles. "What do you need, Katniss." Finnick asks. "I'm going to pick Finley and Ameylia up from your house. They are having a sleepover with Prim tonight." Katniss says. "Ok." Finnick says. Katniss waves, and Finnick looks at me. "I love you, Ann. Do you know that? I love you so much." He says. "Yes, Finn. I know that. And I love you very much." I say. He walks me to my house and gives me a kiss. "Bye Ann, I love you." He says. "Love you too, Finn." I say, walking into my house. Tonight wasn't that bad.
