Regina's POV
Me and Y/n had a system, a way of communicating when we're in public. Instead of waving or saying while walking in the hallways, I'd mess with my hair to signal to her that I was basically acknowledging her and she would do the same to acknowledge me back.
So when I saw Y/n in the hallway, I move my hair from one side to the other, she saw me, debated for a moment, and did nothing. She did nothing at all. What the fuck was going??
My confused and angry look seemed to be noticeable as Gretchen spoke up. "You ok Regina? You seem...tense."
"What? No, I'm fine." I told her. I haven't told Gretchen about me being gay, let alone about me and Y/n. Maybe I should tell her soon...she's my best friend, I can tell her anything.

"Alright class! Split into teams for dodgeball!" Coach Carr announced as everyone went in their respective teams. I was on a different team than y/n, was she avoiding me?
Once Coach Carr blew the whistle, everyone rushed to get a ball from the middle. Balls were being thrown left and right. I was doing a pretty great job at dodging them if I do say so- smack
A dodgeball hit me right in the face and it hurt like hell. I could feel blood streaming down my nose as Coach Carr stopped the game. "Y/n! No headshots!Principals office now!" He yelled.
Y/n threw it at me?
"Uh- Ms.George, go on and head to the nurses office." I nodded and left the gym, hoping to catch up to Y/'n since the principals office and nurses room were in the same area.
I spotted her angrily trudging up the stairs. "What the fuck Y/n?!" I practically yelled.
She didn't face me. "I thought you couldn't be seen with me, who knows who's stalking in the halls right now."
"You know why I can't be seen with you!" I tried to reason.
"God Regina! It's like you're embarrassed by me or something!" She yelled, turning around to face me.
"I'm not! It's just no one can know yet! It could ruin my reputation!"
"Oh of course! Your reputation! Obviously that's more important than your own fucking girlfriend!"
"Keep your voice down!" I told her, not wanting to get caught. She glared at me and stormed off. There was no point in trying to catch up with her, it was all said and done. So I sat on the staircase, and cried. I cried hard.
While I was crying, I heard footsteps. Had Y/n come back already?
I looked up to see Gretchen with a stack of blank copy paper in her hands. "Regina? Are you ok?" She asked setting down the paper and sitting next to me.
"Y-yeah, I'm fine.." I trailed off. "I- uhm, need to tell you something." It was better to get it off my chest now, and having someone to talk to about this wouldn't be the worst thing.
"What is it? Boy trouble?" She guessed. I shook my head no. "Girl troubles actually."
She looked at me confused. "What do you mean girl troubles?"
"I- I like girls, Gretchen." Her eyes widened and she let out a small gasp. "You do?" I nodded and put my head down.
Moments later I felt myself become trapped in a tight hug. A few seconds go by and I hug her back. "I don't care that you're gay Regina." She said softly in a supportive way.
"Thanks Gretchen."
"Oh! And don't worry, your secrets safe with me."
