"Okay there's another new one. It... seems like a dragon, with no skin. It just looks like a gross, pink, flying blob." Izuku spied across the land skies with his enhanced senses, using the heat of the target to determine the color.

"Ah... that would be the Aged Rat-Dragon. In their infancy, the Rat-Dragon is born as litters of rat-like creatures. When they go through their puberties, their skin begins to molt off, revealing a draconic shape below. The pink underneath hardens overtime, becoming more like armor than exposed flesh."

"That's... bizarre," Izuku responded to Koda. He was the happiest of all right now, Izuku was feeding him all sorts of information about species that he'd never have gleaned otherwise, in tandem with his search for Himiko or the villagers that were taken. He needed to be aware of any approaching threat anyways.

"Yes, but they're not much danger. At least, not to an Onyx. They have very little or no Magic at all."

Izuku was mentally jotting down everything Koda told him, trying to hold onto as much of it as possible. Unfortunately, the sheer diversity in flora and fauna within the Infestation Zone was so overwhelming that it could have kept biologists busy for hundreds of years, likely even longer. All Izuku could do was remember the name and shape of the monster and whether or not he should worry about him. The rest of their biology tended to fade into the background as he was educated on the next monster.

"And that Infested Griffin is getting close," Koda reported.

"Don't worry, I'll take care of it." Izuku could have killed it several minutes ago, but range severely increased Lumina costs. Now, it was more than close enough for his Fusion Cleave.

As if a bomb went off mid-air, the Infested Griffin exploded into seven bloody sections. The head was completely diced up.

"What the hell..." Saiko looked meaningfully at Izuku.

"You can't expect me to give away all my secrets," He said with a cheeky smile.

Fusion Cleave was definitely one of the most terrifying uses of Magic ever devised. Instant Magical Damage that almost mimicked Physical Damage. Because it used Atomic Magic to fuse the particles together and release a massive amount of energy, it wasn't just fast, it was strong as hell. Only regeneration, or near-complete nullification of Magical Damage, could hold off against it.

For most of Estaria's intelligent citizens, that sort of defense was rare. Only Terrans and Onyx had Magic Resistance built into their bodies, and usually that wouldn't be enough to stop Fusion Cleave.

However, when it came to monsters, they had a lot more 'built-into' their bodies. The rapid expansion of nations caused them to evolve into much more aggressive creatures, much more powerful ones. Lots of them had developed regeneration in response to the much harsher environment they found themselves in. It was why, at Tauris, the proper procedure was to destroy the monster's brain, no matter the situation. If you brought a slowly regenerating Direwolf corpse back to home base, you could end up causing several deaths. Double-tapping, in other words, was the only way.

You could regenerate skin, flesh. You could mend bones and grow them in the span of a couple hours. You could regrow limbs and organs if you had really strong regeneration. The one thing regeneration could never do, was bring back the brain. It could repair slight damage, concussions and the like, close misses. But it would never bring back severe damage.

The theory was that the brain led to the Soul, and the Soul led to your supernatural abilities. If you didn't have access to that, you couldn't regenerate.

That was why Izuku cut the creatures so viciously, to ensure their brains were completely destroyed. Torn into several pieces and scattered through the wind.
