As soon as Izuku and Himiko were behind the doors of the holding chamber, Himiko broke. Both of their families were waiting there for them. And the sight of her father's smile, as well as her mother's absence, shattered the resilience she displayed in the center of the arena.
Izuku had guided her into his own chamber, because he knew most of Himiko's loved ones were part of his family too. There wasn't going to be anyone waiting for Uraraka in her chamber outside of her father, Uraraka, and only one of her advisors, Saiko.
Instead of that depressing sight, as she broke down and cried, she was swarmed with hugs. From her father, from Inko, from Uraraka, from Haneyama, Eri, and Fuwa. Even Momo patted her on the head from outside the crowd.
And of course, Izuku was there too. "No matter what anyone says, you've proved yourself as a Lord today." He wasn't referring to her strength, to her evolution into a Spiritual Being. He was talking about her passion that awakened it at all. She showed something incredible to all of Draxia.
No one even bothered to congratulate Izuku. They knew that he cared as little about pleasantries as they did when they saw Himiko break down crying. They were a weird family, but they were family. Izuku didn't need to be told he did a good job, he just needed them to be there for Himiko.
"I-I'm sorry!" She bawled to Saiko, feeling like she was the only representation of her mother. The only one she could apologize to and get out the emotions that stirred over her failure, and how her mother reacted to that failure.
Saiko was taken aback. "I..."
Izuku couldn't help but smile as he watched her mind turn. He could almost hear her thoughts as she reached into her own past.
"You cannot be blamed for failure when you try your best," She said. "I failed a lot before I reached my position in the council." She took a deep breath, and spit out the words that had been resting in her chest for far too long. "It's just a chair. Don't let this be the end of the world. You're gonna do a lot of great things." She only felt safe saying it... because she knew she could trust Izuku. It wasn't just a chair to her, but she knew that Himiko wouldn't have to worry about him misusing that power.
Himiko's loss was not a loss for Draxia, nor would her victory have been a loss. That's what Saiko was trying to say.
"Now... you don't have to worry about all this political nonsense. You now have more freedom than Izuku does. You can do whatever you want," She said with an almost relieved smile. This was the child she helped raise, and she royally messed up the process. The least she could do after all that indoctrination was tell her she had the rest of her life ahead of her. "You've..." She stifled a tear, something she hadn't done in a long time. "You've made me proud. Don't apologize."
For a while longer, there were tears and hugs, and comforts whispered. It didn't feel like a King had just been decided, and Izuku couldn't be happier.
"So... what was all that?" Himiko said with a sniffle, finally calming down. As soon as they left the arena, they'd be swarmed by citizens, by reporters from abroad and at home, and fans in general. The holding area was pretty lavish, so they found places to sit or relax, and just talk for a while.
"Yeah, you never showed us anything like it," Toshinori remarked. "Were you hiding it from us?" He didn't sound hurt. Because of the power of such attacks, hiding them might've actually been difficult. He was genuinely curious.
"Nope. It was a... spur of the moment thing. Just... a sort of revelation," he said, unable to hide the smirk.
"What?"
Izuku let out a small laugh, having seen his future. "I'm sorry... it's just that... I should've told you guys a long time ago. Most of you already knew or had suspicions."
