"So we're hunting invasive species one day - this is after the whole mess with the titanium Lord by the way - and we come across..." Rumi looked around the dinner table, her words falling on anxious ears.
Hisashi stared directly into his son's eyes. "You knew exactly what that man was talking about, right?"
Izuku licked his lips nervously before nodding. "I have the ability to see NULL and ABSOLUTE Particles in their past, present, and future states. So I can... essentially see all of time if I try hard enough."
"But we already have seers," Hisashi protested. "That's not what was so grievous in that message."
"You... shouldn't push this topic," Izuku firmly replied.
"If my son can bear the burden, then-"
Izuku shook his head. "That's not it. You're letting guilt influence your decision making. And in this instance, you truly do not want to know what I do." The advisors awkwardly shifted in their seats, trying to hold back their own curiosity.
"Does your mother know?"
"Of course not. I haven't told anyone these things. The things you're not supposed to see, because you're supposed to see only what is in front of you."
"Then do you let these things guide you? If you can see them, you let them influence you. And by your own logic, you shouldn't."
Izuku paused halfway through a bite. "We may have a mutual respect, but I don't think you get to tell me what to do yet."
"I understand. But I also understand that future memories are imprints of Souls yet to exist. You have no idea what you're accessing, what you could open yourself up to."
Izuku leaned back in surprise. He expected parental talk, not a genuine reason from an experienced researcher. "Hmm... I looked forward at least 700 years."
Toshinori spit out his drink. "Excuse me?! You said you looked 50 months ahead!"
"Uh-uh!" Rumi shouted. "No more secrets."
Izuku sighed. "Then I should fetch Momo."
"Why?"
"Because if I'm gonna tell you all the truth, we're gonna need someone to erase it if you can't handle it. Her Magic is the best."
"We can handle it," Ryuko replied.
"I don't like to pull this card. You know I don't. But you can't handle what I can." Izuku held out his index finger. "I'm not invincible. Someone could still break my body, it's been upgraded by Enhancement/Atlas Magic, but it's not above physical laws. The same can't be said of my brain. I exist outside of the laws that govern the mind."
"Shifters handle this stuff too," Kaina countered.
"They've made a journey beyond the veil of life. The Shadow Monarch... his soldiers are immune to Cosmic Madness because they've breached the boundary. Shifters aren't as resilient, but they manage. I did not keep my secrets for personal reasons, I didn't do it because I was trying to protect you. I did it because I knew I was protecting you."
"Then who protects you?" Hisashi asked, seemingly relenting on the topic.
"I can handle it. Future sight isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be... as long as you have enhancements. And the first time sucks, but you come to terms with the knowledge. If anything... I was euphoric when I learned everything... I don't need to be worried about..." He clenched his jaw and amended his words. "I don't need to be worried about you this way. I just don't want you knowing some of these things. They'd do more harm to you than to me."
