Xavier forced Reina to sit back down while he went to wake his parents up. When his parents were awake and had gotten out of their room, Reina told his parents what she told him. His mother looked at her confused and upset. "Why would the adults just watch them do that to you?"
"Dummies. They don't know right from wrong, they aren't educated at all...no one is. Well no one but me anyways."
"How?" His mother asked
"A few years ago a noble family had stopped by the village I was taught by one of the kids there how to read and write as well as some of the things that they were learning. The other kids in the orphanage weren't interested like I was. So I was the only one who got that knowledge which made me be much different from them."
"I see, so how much do you know how to do?" Xavier's mother asked curiously
"I honestly don't know how much actually stuck with me and what hasn't." Reina said in thought as she frowned
Xavier's mother went up to her and placed a hand on her arm. "Hey it's okay. Why don't you stay here for a few days we can gauge just what you know and from there we can help you out. In a few days time Xavier will be leaving to go to the main kingdom. So why don't you leave out then so you aren't alone when you are traveling?"
Reina nodded her head, she didn't like being alone. So knowing that there was a nice family that knew what was going on with her-she wanted to take the time to be able to understand what was going on with her and go from there. Xavier's mother smiled at her and had her help her out with breakfast that morning. Reina enjoyed helping the elder raven haired female out with cooking, Reina knew a lot of things when it came to cooking and it showed while she helped the elder woman out.
The female was rather happy to see what Reina knew how to do and how well she was able to do it for a child her age. When it was time to eat, Xavier's father spoke up to her. "So just how old are you Reina?"
"Um...I'm not sure. I don't have a birthday that's celebrated so I don't know how old I am." Reina said sadly
The two adults looked at her stunned. "Just what village did you come from?" The male asked
"I think I remember the village chief say that the village name was 'Verdon'? If that rings a bell at all?" Reina said in thought
The elder male nodded his head "It does, I have to go there today to get a few things. I will talk with the village chief and the orphanage owner there to grasp what's going on with you. I'll be taking Xavier with me so you'll be here with my wife will you be okay with that?"
"Mhm, I am. Your wife is really nice. Much nicer than the orphanage owner that would usually be mean to me and the other kids." Reina said with a nod of her head
The two adults looked concerned hearing what Reina said to them. Xavier then spoke up "Don't worry Reina you won't have to deal with that anymore. You're going to get big and strong making those people wish they didn't abandon you in your time of need."
Reina nodded her head. "O...Okay Xavier...i...if you say so."
After eating Reina stayed with the elder woman as she helped with the chores around the house before the elder woman had tested her to see where she was with her education. While she was tested Xavier and his father went to Verdon where they met up with the village chief who looked happy to see the two males. "Greetings Xavier, Zayne. It's good to see the two of you again. Here to get your wares for Kirka?"
"Yes, and I have a few questions for you." Zayne said seriously
The village chief raised an eyebrow at the male. "What questions might you have for me?"
"First where is the orphanage here?"
"It's the big building right there." The Village said as he pointed to a broken down building with a bunch of kids playing in front of it
"Second, why the fuck did you forbade a child from coming back here?! Do you understand what you've just done to that child?"
"Oh...you speak of the devil child, what of her?"
"Do you understand what had happened to make that happen?" Zayne asked angered
The village chief said nothing, not having an answer for him. Xavier was more than pissed and spoke up. "That poor girl was being bullied by those idiot boys throwing rocks at her head! The adults here just watched it happen! She wasn't doing anything to anyone and they were being mean and rude to her!"
"Well there's no way we're allowing that freakish devil back here. She killed three boys from that orphanage."
"She was protecting herself, no doubt she didn't even know she could do that! She told me she was in hysterics when you had kicked her out. You are a mean man to do that to a child when they don't know what's going on with themselves!" Xavier said angered
"No one with devil powers are allowed in this village I will not allow her back. This place can survive without her. That's the end of that."
Xavier looked at his father. "Papa...this isn't good."
"I know...I know let's talk to the orphanage owner before getting what we need to get."
"Mhm."
When they got to the orphanage they went in and found the woman who owned the place. She looked at the duo sweetly. "How can I help the two of you?"
"What can you tell me about the child Reina that was once living here?" Zayne asked
"she's a ten year old brat who was cast aside from the main part of the kingdom. She came from a high class family that didn't want her. Her birthday is May Tenth. Why do you care about that child?"
"I've taken the child in and wish to know about her." Zayne said seriously
"I see...you should get what little she has here since you've chosen to take in that disgrace of a child."
The woman then threw in the middle of the room a bag that had Reina's things in it. "That's all of the things she has. I was going to throw it all out, but if you're taking care of her now you can deal with her and her nonsense. She's a lazy good for nothing, you will see why soon why she isn't allowed back here."
Xavier grabbed the bag and the two left without another word. Zayne then went to get the wares they went to get before the two of them went back to their village. The two males parted ways, Zayne had went to distribute the wares he had gotten while Xavier went to the house to see Reina was reading a book while his mother was knitting.
"Mother Dad and I are back in the village." Xavier said with a smile
"Welcome back, did you find anything out sweetie?"
"Yeah...That place is filled with a bunch of big meanies." Xavier said as he nodded his head he then went up to Reina and placed the bag beside her. "My dad and I went to the orphanage, we got your stuff."
