The white haired prince was rather amused hearing what the princess said and spoke up. "My lord, may I interject for a moment sir?"
"Of course Prince Sylus. I noticed you taking a liking to my youngest so you may speak your peace."
"About your youngest daughter, I wish to court her when she is of age. Everything I look for in a woman she has down to the cue. What is your age for courting here my lord?"
The king looked at him stunned. "Technically there is no set age, but I implore all of my children by the age of twenty-five to court someone. But if you truly wish to court my youngest then I will allow it as long as she is willing to give you the time to do so."
Reina smiled at her father as she had her hands on her lap. "Father I was the one who came up to him. Not the other way around. If I am allowed to court the male I laid eyes on while I was in the ball room, then I will take that chance if possible. I do not wish to end up like those whom are older than I."
"Reina, my dear...may I inquire what made you want to go up to him?" Her mother asked concerned
"Sir Zayne said that he was a fickle male who dismissed women and publicly shames them. I wanted to see if I could keep that from happening with me-and I did. I was interested on why he is the way he is. Being an intellectual person that I am, I get rather curious about things and how they work, that goes double for how humans work." Reina explained
"I see, do be careful daughter. We do have a peace treaty with them, but if something were to happen between the two of you we would be at war with them instantly." Her mother said sincerely
Reina nodded her head. "I will mother, fear not. I do not have rocks for brains. I am well aware of how politics work thanks to Sir Zayne's wife teaching me all about them."
Her mother looked at Amy with a smile "You were once my advisor...weren't you?"
"I was yes ma'am."
"With your husband taking over his old job I wish for you to do the same, it is obvious you've been paying attention and I need someone like you to put my elder children in their place. Teach them just like you have your own son and my daughter."
Amy smiled. "Of course your highness, I'd be honored to do so."
Reina's siblings glared at her which she paid no mind to, after the dinner Sylus took Reina away from the crowd of drunk grown-ups and out to the garden. The two of them walked together in silence before they got to a gazebo where they sat together away from the loud crowd of people. "So...I caught your interest did I?" Sylus asked curiously with a grin
"You did yes, is that an issue?"
"No-no, its not an issue just...I've never thought that I'd ever interest a young lady like yourself. Women I've seen have only ever thought about their image and what other people think of them. Not about anyone else or anything else. They are not as intelligent as you are, they don't see things others graze past. I must say you have me interested in you as well after what I've seen so far." He said shaking his head
"Is that so? What about me interests you?"
"Well for starters, just what makes you speak the way you do? You speak in such a formal way, I've never heard your siblings ever speak that way."
"You heard me speak about my harsh past, I grew up with Sir Zayne's family. His wife taught me about what I know now. She literally beat into me how I speak now, she told me that if I spoke informally to another prince or princess that I would look like an uneducated monkey. I did not wish to follow suit of my siblings-so I chose to listen wisely to the words she spoke. Many books she made me read and memorize the contents of." Reina said as she messed with her hands nervously
He placed his hand out to her which made her look at him confused "Give me your hand princess."
Slowly she took her hand placing it within his, she watched him hold her hand before kissing the top of it softly. "You truly are an interesting young lady. But you will be made fun of in my kingdom speaking that way. You don't need to speak that way in front of me or in my kingdom alright?"
"Are you certain?" She asked flustered
He chuckled and smiled. "Very." He said before he got up still holding her hand before pulling her up into his chest
She looked at him puzzled and stunned, but didn't say a word as she looked up into his dark blue eyes.
"Princess, you don't need to be so formal. I understand showing how different you are to the uncultured siblings you have that you have no connection to, but there is no reason to constantly act the way you do. Tell me is it even the real you?"
"N-No...it isn't. If I was to be the real me, the me that I hide-I fear you will see me as more of the same. I get emotional quickly, especially talking about my past. The pains that I've felt, they still pain me even now. I...I don't want to seem like I'm more of the same that you've brushed off and ignored." She said sadly as she looked down ashamed as she moved away from him trying to pull her hand away from his grasp
Sylus realized with what he had said before, that he had made her feel uncomfortable with being herself, he held onto her hand tighter and pulled her back into him as he held onto her waist tightly. "Look at me Princess, do not be ashamed of your up bringing."
She shook her head no as she tried to get away from him but he was much stronger than herself which she wasn't used to. "Please...just let go of me. I understand you want a woman that is not of this world. I refuse to waste anymore of your time."
He let out a sigh as he took his hand from her waist and forced her to look up at him. He saw the tears coming from her eyes and brushed them away. "You understand nothing about who I am Princess. Yes I wish for a woman with intellect-but I also wish for a woman who knows how to express themselves without me forcing them to do so. Lean against me princess, express yourself to me. Let me see and understand just how much pain and suffering you've gone through the years of your life away from your nonsensical family." He spoke soft but sternly to her
