<This takes place a few months after the next chapter, I just wanted to write it early.>
*All is well in Camelot as they were the biggest nation out of the other 3 nations. They were the only human nation so they had a lot to prove that they were the blessed race of the gods. Their King, Arthur Pendragon sat on his throne and he was facing his own problems. Teenage problems...
King Arthur's POV:
"I am so bored just sitting on this throne all day, Merlin says I need to do this in order to perceive the dignity of a king, but I know that's bullshit. I am 18 for Avalon's sake!!" I huffed as my head hang low. One of the guards saw this and ask, "Your majesty are you okay? Should I notify Merlin??" he asked worriedly, but I recoiled at the thought of that old man being here. "There is no need for that, offer that idea again and I will have you executed." I said smiling towards him with my head resting on my hands. He was nervous and quickly apologized to me like the tool he was. I swear these guards can never do anything right.
That's when I saw the massive doors to my throne room open, I was curious to see who entered without permission until I realized it was that disgusting old man, Merlin. Oh well, its time to put the face of a king again and hear him out. Maybe he will have something interesting for me to do.
"Your majesty" he bowed, "I bring troubling news." he said with a nervous expression on his face, so I was intrigued. "What is it Merlin? Don't tell me its the church again because I fulfilled my end of the deal with them." I stated with authority. "No your majesty, the church is quite satisfied with the funds we have given them for their 'project'. Rather I detected a powerful mana signature within Brocéliande Forest." He blurted out in a rush, I could see that it almost took everything in that old fool. "I see, well its no problem just send one of the Knights of the Round Table to deal with it." I said with an annoyed expression. "Well your majesty as your trusted advisor, I would strongly discouraged that, rather I would send the church in their stead just to make sure that they are worth the trouble." he said with a mischievous smile, I know where he was headed with this. He wanted to test out the 'projects' he and they were working on. "That is fine with me, just make sure you give me all the details of what you find there. I can hardly imagine any monster strong enough to face us. Its been almost 200 years since I last battle one that could make me bleed." I said with pride in my voice. Sometimes I wished I didn't drink the Elixir of Life when I was 18 but rather drink it when i was 25 so I could still have a young and strong body, but this will do anyway.
"Very well your majesty, we will send the church at once." with that being said he quickly left. Well whatever the being was, I sure feel sorry for it but now its head is going to hang inside of trophy hall.
Merlin's POV:
"Damn that foolish boy, how dares he look down on the Great Merlin! Its fine since my time to rise is coming soon, Project SOULS is almost completed and to think I used to believe their was nothing to the human soul. kikikikikikiki!" I laughed to myself, knowing that in the end I will be king of this nation.
I arrived at the Church of Avalon and entered, it was a beautiful on the inside with depictions our of gods on every wall and window. Behind the alter is where the true miracles begin. I used magic on the sensor on the alter and was teleported inside our base of operations. It's truly amazing what us humans can do when we are pushed to the limit. "Are the children ready for the procedure?" I asked the priest of the church and he shook his head yes. "Everything is going according to plan Merlin, like I prayed for. These children will be our answer to threat of the other nations." he told me in a calm voice. "Winston, the king agrees with my plan so its time to start and send the survivors out the forest." I said with haste in my voice while stroking my beard.
So the project finally started and 20 children from various different families from around the kingdom were tested. Those missing poster signs really are useless, if only the parents could see that their children are actually serving the kingdom better than they are. The project consists of merging the SOULS of 7 dead legendary warriors into the children. If my theory is correct then once the SOUL merges then child will be able to use the specific SOUL trait each warrior had. JUSTICE, KINDNESS, BRAVERY, PATIENCE, INTEGRITY, PERSERVERANCE, and lastly the strongest trait.....DETERMINATION! "I hope at least one of those brats merges with the DETERMINATION soul trait, legends say that they could bend the fabric of reality if they chose so, but of course I placed a legend-tier magic spell on them to control them. I have nothing to fear at all." I thought to myself with a smile on my face.
I heard each child scream in agonizing pain as their own soul was being consumed by the SOUL traits. Honestly I could careless about their cries, I just need at least one to have DETERMINATION. Luckily I studied the forbidden magic of summoning 400 years ago before Tiberia got ahold of it and burned the book. "Well, Chara, I summoned you from your world, so you better be useful." I snarled looking at the young girl screaming in pain.
Chara's POV:
"ITS TEARING ME APART! I CAN FEEL MY SOUL BEING SPLIT IN TWO! ARGHHHHH!" I could only feel pain and it was nothing I felt before. "Mommy please help me...someone please help me..." I cried out in my mind. Everything faded to black and I couldn't feel the pain anymore, then I saw a red light in the distance. I moved towards it and it was a red heart, then it spoke to me. "You mustn't die here Chara, you are stronger than you realize. I will save you from your fate just please.....STAY DETERMINED..." the voice said to me.
Merlin's POV:
"After 2 hours it seems like the process is done, it sure was a hassle to replace the SOUL each time a kid died, but it was all worth it in the end. All 7 traits found a host, and now to activate the second effect of my magic. I cast Memory Blend!" I shouted as I raise my staff in the air, with this effect I can alter their memories and give them a fabricated backstory of how monsters were the reasons their families died. This should work perfectly.
"Are you children alright? I was worried sick that I couldn't save you." I said with tears running down my face. One of the boys looked at me and asked what happened to them, "Well young man, you all were attack by monsters in your own villages. All of your parents were killed and eaten by the monsters. Also your villages were burned down. You all were lucky enough to escape!" I said with me wiping my eyes. They were all shocked and started to cry, and it got even worse when they noticed the dead children around them that didn't make it. "Those monsters did this, they deserve to be erased from this world, but lucky for you seven that you were blessed with 7 legendary SOUL traits that came from the gods above." I said while gesturing my hands towards the sky. "Children I hate to ask this of you but for all human kind, could you exterminate all of the monsters of this world. With your strength, there is no one out there who could match you. Just depend on your SOUL for power." I asked while on my hands and knees just to really sell the performance. They seem to bought and agreed to my request. "Perfect, its all coming together and now before I send them out to the forest, I need to test them out somewhere. I guess I will make a pitstop at the outside of the Underground. There are a few monsters who live on the surface now since that human broke them out all those years ago." I said to myself
It will truly be a massacre....
<AN: A little world building for the world of Tarnia. Man these humans are evil right, but what if they had a reason to be?>
