Kingdom of Lauria, Remo, April 13th 1639

Massive explosions rocked the Apartment complex that the 501th Laurian Company defended. In only 2 days, the 250 Men had been brutally mauled, only 75 survivors from the Byzantine Attacks. The Byzantines had attacked the city in full force and left no quarters for the enemy to survive.

Of 75 000 at the start of the siege, 11 000 were already dead alongside 10 000 Civilians.

But another 20 000 Soldiers had been wounded or captured during that time, furthering the low morale and sense of dread. Only 900 Byzantines were confirmed to have been killed. The Byzantines were reducing the city they loved so dearly to ash and smoke.

Many of the Rich, Famous and Important governmental officials had been killed by Spies, many more had fled for Papaldia and Altarus, fearing the worst, to which their fears were already confirmed.

Another, worse fate awaited the city as the Byzantines had issued a Decree that until the city put its arms down, they would be destroyed.

Something they proved they were willing to do, Most Laurians, fighting with weapons over 50 years out of date, simply could not defeat the Byzantine attacks.

But they had to try, if not, untold horrors could fall onto the city, Remo was the enemy's only target now. It was only a matter of time. The Laurians would pull back once more, giving ground for the chance of holding out.

As the 501st Company was found and destroyed, another lost to the Laurians, the Byzantines continued their advance. They all were heading right for the Royal palace and the dockyards, where they would take them and end the city's resistance.

Lieutenant General Constantine Stilicho was more or less pleased with the progress.

He personally wanted to capture Queen Livia V alive, so that the Post-War Occupation went smoothly, he had heard how beloved she was, but since the first days of the attack, she was put in a wounded state, being trapped under rubble for 2 days before being saved.

Since then, she was kept in the Royal Palace as a symbol of resistance. Causing the last of the soldiers to keep fighting.

A Resistance which needed to be crushed.

On April 14th, with now half the city in his hands and including over 60 000 Killed, Captured or missing for the enemy, including the 20 000 civilians, Lieutenant General Constantine Stilicho felt that now was the time to launch his attack for the Royal Palace and the Docks.

The attack was led by his best units, over 9000 soldiers, the attack began with a massive magic attack from the Laurians.

They had seen them assembled and tried to attack first, but Lieutenant General Constantine Stilicho managed to return with much greater firepower, destroying the ancient Market, where the Old Senate house was burned down to nothing but ash.

1 hour later, he attacked.

Facing brutal conditions, Lieutenant General Constantine Stilicho was attacked from all sides as civilians and soldiers alike attacked him, after 3 hours he was surrounded, his men attacked from all sides, for 3 days.

During which, the torrent of flames, oil and attacks never stopped once, many assumed he was dead, but after 3 days, losing 3000 killed, the highest thus far in the war, he managed to break out, continuing the push.

He sent a single reply back to Grand Duke Giovanni Giustiniani V and Empress Julia, informing them he was not yet dead.

"I was in the thick of the fire, where the flames were thickest, Rome's Blinding Light and St-Constantine Drove me to victory"
