(Warning: War Crimes)
Byzantine Empire, New Roman Gaul, Remo, June 17th 1639 (2022)
Cecilia looked at the sight of the city with a sorrowful expression. She had just arrived back from her Interview with Basil Macedonian. It was the single most terrifying Interview she ever had the honor of seeing.
It began when she arrived, Where Byzantine Soldiers, Were arresting a group of protesters, firing right into the crowd with real bullets, killing a dozen men and wounding many more. They then began to beat the wounded with their guns, brutalizing them.
A Great Deal more were arrested by the Byzantine Soldiers.
When she asked what they were doing, the soldiers responded that they were simply dealing with resistance against the Empress and that the actions they did were perfectly fine. They even implied they would mass murder them if it called for that.
Cecilia was disgusted by the actions.
After that, Cecilia was taken to meet Basil Macedonian, who despite his humble attire and mannerism, He openly spoke about the Mastery of the Roman State, the Roman People, How the Empress was superior to everyone else, even showing Cecilia a Statue of Empress Julia.
It was as big as a House and clearly displayed wealth.
Her questions which she asked, about their goals, Plans, diplomacy, alleged crimes and more, were either deflected or flat out denied.
He explained nothing more than the vaguest of replies, when she asked what he thought about the Superpowers, far stronger than them and willing to crush them should they attack them. He replied by laughing and saying 'Constantine XI will ensure they lose'.
Followed by explaining that The Byzantine Empire cannot be defeated as the blood of a Living God flows into the government, making them divine and above everyone.
When Cecilia informed him that alone would not give them victory, saying they thought the same when they tried to conquer the world, He laughed and said two different beasts, cannot be given the same sights.
That was the meeting between them, not a good start, now she had to wait.
The next place she went to was a School, where the Teacher was flat out brainwashing the kids, telling them about the greatness of Rome, Empress Julia and more rather than true education. Education, the most important cornerstone in Modern History.
And the Byzantines were using to fulfill their own devious ploys and making millions become Puppets on a string.
Now all that was left was the Stadium, but The Stadium had to be cleared of debris from the war. Alongside the teams of the game being sent from Athens, a Major city of theirs.
She wanted to explore the city, but she was told that it would be unwise with the destruction, the risk of hurting herself.
So now she waited for the Stadium to be ready, She went to her table and began to write, everything she had seen, the crimes, the dread she felt, everything.
After nearly 1 Hour of writing, she was tired, she was about to head to take a shower when her phone rang, she picked it up.
"Hello?" She asked
"The game is ready, We are outside with your car, Come soon" The Excubitor Guard said
Before she got the chance to respond, the phone went dead. She sighed and got ready for the game. After gathering everything she would need, her camera, books, pen and paper, she was out of there.
