Frankie leaned against the table with a playful smile, a twinkle of mischief in his eyes. "Alright, ladies. I'm in desperate need of inspiration. Show me your creative writing assignments. Maybe I'll steal a few ideas."
Emma looked up with a smirk, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "Really, Frankie? Can't think of anything on your own?"
"You know you'd probably just end up writing some chaotic story about space pirates or something." Isabella laughed softly.
Frankie chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck, half embarrassed but enjoying the teasing. "Hey, space pirates are cool!" I said as I joined their conversation. "But seriously, We've got nothing. You two always come up with the good stuff. Help a guy out?"
"You two are always asking for help in your assignments," said Emma.
"Please?" Frankie blinked cutely at her. We genuinely were struggling with our assignment, but he didn't want to seem vulnerable in front of the girls, especially not Emma, who he was secretly trying to impress.
"Alright, you guys." said Isabella. She was supportive and kind, often acting as a mediator in group dynamics. She was less concerned about our struggle, seeing it as just part of her playful personality. I was certain she would be a psychologist someday. "We'll help you with your assignments."
I looked over at Frankie and he winked at me.
****"Got something from Isabella."
I nearly jumped off from my best friend, Frankie. "Dude, can you please warn me before you do that?"
Frankie Mallari just laughed as he fixed his jet-black hair. "That's not my fault if I'm stealthy."
"Well, that sounds like fun if we're going to play hide and seek during science camp."A bump nearly made me fall to the floor. I looked at Rosie, who was smiling evilly at us as she went past the sewing room.
"Dude, you know it's either women are abandoning us or cursing us but never love us." I told Frankie. "Maybe it's about time to do something."
"No, Jasper. No,no,no,no."
"Look, I get that Rosie has some serious issues but she has no right to take it on everyone."
"You could talk to Padre Castillo, I'm sure he will listen to you-"
"I was thinking more like scaring her with your stealth.""No, you don't have to."
"Or I'll just learn your skill." I gave him an adorable smile. "It's my pleasure to scare off Mrs. Fernandez and Rosie from the other section."
Rosie Ramirez was a big jerk in our school. She made our lives here hell. She bullied us and she hang out with the most popular girls.
"Mrs. Fernandez wouldn't like that. She's old and grumpy."
"Old and grumpy, huh?"A woman's voice came from behind.
"Mrs. Fernandez!" Frankie and I turned around and saw our, yes, grumpy and sagging-face Science teacher. Mrs. Fernandez was fifty something years old. She wore her yellow uniform and a big-red glasses rested at the bridge of her nose. Her gray mushroom-shape hair outstood every teacher here in St. Austin School.
"I-I mean, old and still beautiful." I said hastily."Hmm." Mrs. Fernandez held her head high. "I hope you two are excelling in your academics. You wouldn't want to be a one month cleaners again at the faculty room."
She spun on her heels and proceeded to go into the faculty room.
"I'm going to scare her." I mumbled.
Frankie tried to calm me down. "As much as we want to scare them, I think we should focus on the problem at hand.""Right. Sorry. I'm avoiding the math subject. It's giving me the heebie-jeebies."My head prickled seeing all the numbers. Why can't I be good in math like Zade? He had joined several competitions when he was in Grade 9 and 10 at the Math Quiz Competition in Iloilo.
"Hey, isn't that your brother?"
Speaking of..."Whoa!" Frankie snatched me out of my brother and Dylan's way who were running towards the Quadrangle.
"Hey, Zade!" I yelled but they didn't hear me.
"Where they going?" asked Frankie.
"Here I have answers for number 4 and 5" He opened his notebook and showed me the solution for Adding Rational numbers.
