"You should not engage with him, Ash." Dylan said. "He's a demon."
It felt like a bucket of ice was poured over me. Despite his demonic nature, Trevor's charm was undeniable.

Maybe mortals who have encountered him often speak of a strange allure, a magnetic pull that drags them deeper into this world of whispered temptations. But behind that charm lied something ancient, something primal—a hunger that neither gold nor power can ever truly satiate. In his voice is the crackle of distant thunder, and in his touch, the slow burn of embers long forgotten.

"So much for ruining the mood, Fae." Trevor hardened his eyes. "Didn't you hear me? I'm here to help."

"Look, hell creature--"

"Never call a demon a hell creature. I hate that. Besides, you already look terrified, Fae."
I glanced at Dylan, who had a confused look. "Maybe we should run?" I suggested just as his body suddenly collapsed on the ground.

Something knocked him unconscious with whatever demon magic Trevor has.

"Dylan!" I knelt beside him.
"Don't fret, witcher." Trevor dropped his gaze. "He's alive. I'm more interested in you."

I stood up and turned at him. "Witchers are forbidden to accept any help from a demon." There was rage in my voice.
"This is the wrong family you have come to. Are you after the Devil's scroll?"

I've got a new job with a toxic coworker.
My brother's missing.
Aswangs were after the scroll.
And now, a demon showed up?
It sounded like a good weekend trip to hell.

He laughed in surprise. "The devil's scroll? Do you think that's what I'm after? I don't give the shit-eating goal the aswang clan has. I'm here for something personal." A ghost of a smile hovered his lips.

Nueva Bonifacio may be his hunting ground, but Trevor was no mere predator. He could be an architect of desires, a manipulator of fates. Demons are the puppet master and the puppet, a creature bound by the rules of the old, unspoken contracts but always finding ways to bend them.

"Who do you work for?"

"Behave,little witcher."

I've had enough. I charged as flames burst out of my hand. I punched the crossbow away, flying out of his grip. I aimed at the center of his torso but he was good in combat. He yanked my fist.

While I poured my strength with blows, Trevor looked calm on his dodges, enraging me with his amusement. However, he was gone for a second, and then he was behind me. He moved like the cold air, like a shadows, like he was made of it.

I winched as I felt his mouth to my ear. "I'll be honest, I work for no one."

"Are you going to kill me?" My voice was tinged with both annoyance and dread.

"Kill you?" He laughed like he was enjoying our fight. "That is not what I had in mind."

"Then what do you have in mind?"
"A proposition." I glanced at him just in time to meet his eyes. Trevor continued. "It's much safer proposition. You don't need to have a huge headache over the consequences. You're lucky you didn't cross paths with a Demon Emperor."

I believed it was a powerful demon. I didn't know any of how the nine circles of hell work and who ruled over it. But the thought of crossing paths with a demon lord scares me.

Demons have been known to trick unfortunate souls and make them their puppet, as their amusement. It was their sole purpose to destroy God's creation.

"And there would consequences if I dealt with them?" I inquired.

"Yes. Terrible ones. It will satisfy their hunger and glory for the kill."

"I bet they love you in hell."

Trevor's pretty face twisted. "Trust me, little witcher. They don't like me as much as they don't like you."

"We don't need you in this, demon." I gritted my teeth.

"Oh, little witcher. There's a lot that you don't know about the aswangs."
