I woke up to the noise from the other side of the room. I threw myself up and felt a cool metal pressed against my palm. The door flew open as the smell of waffles wafted into my nose.

Zade appeared, followed by Dylan. "You're awake? Are you hungry? " He asked.
"Let me get you something to eat." Dylan said as he stalked out of my room.

"How long was I out?" I asked Zade as he sat down on the side of my bed.
"Eight hours."
"Oh man, were we too late to search for the scroll?" I asked. Not long, Dylan came back with a glass of water and waffles.

"Not yet." Zade said.
I lifted the necklace. "This is a pretty cool, necklace. Where did you get it?"
"That was mom's." Zade swallowed a mouthful of waffles. "I want to give it to you. The amulet serves as a protection and good luck. I've just recently found out in the Grimoire."

"Thanks, Z." I smiled.

The door was thrown open. Ash rushed in. He wrapped his arms around me.

"You okay now?" he asked.
"I'm fine, kuya." I glanced from Zade to Ash. "I can't believe you did everything to save me."

"Of course we did." Ash smiled, ruffling my hair"I mean, you are our brother."
"Why wouldn't we do the same for you? You matter to us, Jasper." Zade admitted.

"Can we, uh, ask specifically how you got to be at the theater?" Dylan said after a few seconds of silence.

I recapped everything for them. Zade didn't look happy upon hearing about her girlfriend being a witch and what led me to Enrique Virgilio and the Aswangs. "What truly lies on that girl's face is a grotesque monster. I could see it through her glamour. I'm sorry, Z."

"That is her play after all." Zade just whispered.

"The faeries are looking for her too." Ash said. "Dylan, uh, Dylan's brother."

"You have a brother?!" Zade and I said simultaneously in disbelief.

Dylan nodded. "One heck of a headache like you two."
Ash explained that the Faeries were after Emily because she had the Helmet of the Faerie King.
"But Dylany!" Zade rose from the bed. "If you had a brother, we already met him long ago."
"It is my duty to be your protector, Z. Not until your powers have been activated," Dylan said. "You even tried to flirt with an Enkanto before."

"I did?" Zade turned to Dylan.
"Yeah, you almost drank poison from your fruit punch."
"Wow, didn't know that was that of a punch!" said Zade.
Dylan threw his hands up in frustration.

"Well, you could've had time to tell us that you have a brother, Dylan." I said.
"And put you guys into jeopardy?"
Zade spread out his arms "Hey, my entire life is in jeopardy, why don't you put more? Maybe one day I wake up in the middle of the night and fight a demon wearing only boxers and a spatula in my hand!"

"You did mess this up royally." I rolled my eyes. The argument went on and on.
"Guys." Ash raised his voice. "GUYS."

The three of us stopped, and we looked over at Ash. "We should prepare to look for Emily and how to find the scroll. We have no further time for arguments."

Zade agreed. "Alright then. Let's go hunt my ex-girlfriend." He said it in the most badass way while I sneakily grabbed two of the waffles.

The first sight of Emily's house behind the church made me shudder. Trevor went home and called Ash on the phone that he would meet us behind Nueva Bonifacio's church. "It bothers me that we cannot find the scroll." I was in the front seat, scratching my head.

"Maybe Emily knows." Dylan raised his eyebrows at Zade—who was reading the map of Panay. "She's a mambabarang witch. She might know location spell that we don't. You guys harnessed your magic through your mana and naturally explode someone's head off. Witches and Warlocks cannot. They have to utter a spell for it to work."
