JJ was about to get ready for her first date. Her first date! She was so excited, but her hands wouldn't stop shaking.
She liked Ashton, she really did, but then her head was telling her he didn't like her.
JJ had been a hopeless romantic from a young age. Most children fall in love with love because of their parents, but JJ was the opposite.
She fell in love with the idea of love because she knew it had to be real. There had to be a type of love that consumed you. Not the "love" her parents had.
She fell in love with dancing in the rain and meeting your partner's parents.
She ached for the type of love that made your insides flutter. The type of love that you could never get bored of.
She just hoped that Ashton liked her the same way she liked him.
"I'm here!" Maddie announced, walking into the blonde's room. "Hi, Aunt Maddie," JJ announced from her spot on the floor, a hair curler clutched in her hands.
"Let me finish that for you." Maddie sat down behind her niece, starting to finish curling her hair for her.
Once JJ's hair was finished, Maddie made an "awh" noise before sitting up, ushering JJ to get dressed before makeup.
JJ went into her closet and picked out one of her favourite dresses.
It wasn't a fancy dress, it was simple and pretty.
It was a knee-length, white dress with small blue flowers dotted over it. She was going to pair it with her Converse and black leather jacket.
Her father, Eddie, Maddie and Sophia had approved of said outfit, so she was pretty confident.
Once she was dressed, Maddie once again made noises of awe, before making JJ sit down on the chair in front of her.
Maddie got to work doing her niece's makeup, her tongue sticking out of her lip in concentration.
The quiet sound of Lana Del Ray, Maddie's choice, bounced around the room as Maddie brushed the blusher onto JJ's cheeks.
"I've never had anyone to do this with before," JJ admitted, staying still so she didn't mess up Maddie's work. "Well, now you do." Maddie smiled.
"Think of me as your built-in Aunt, Mother and Big sister, all in one." JJ giggled. "Okay." The two smiled at each other, love filling the room.
JJ would be okay if she never got to experience an "epic love" because the love that she shared with her family would always be enough for her.
After Maddie left, JJ did the finishing touches to her outfit and hair, before walking down the stairs to where her father was waiting.
Except it wasn't only her father waiting, because the Diaz boys sat in her living room.
"Oh, you look so beautiful, sweetheart." Buck smiled widely, leaning over to kiss her on the head. "He's right Jay, you look beautiful." Eddie complimented.
"Thank you." She kissed them both on the cheek, ruffling Christopher's hair.
"Can I play on your iPad while you're gone, please?" Christopher's classic puppy dog eyes came out. "Of course!"
The door then knocked, spiking JJ's nerves. "He's here." She announced, taking a deep breath. Buck raised for the front door, making her rush behind him, praying that he didn't embarrass her.
"Hi, Buck, I'm here to pick up JJ." JJ made a cringing face at his words. She knew her Dad wouldn't react well to Ashton's impoliteness. "Mr Buckley is fine." Buck calmly stated, letting the blonde boy walk into his home.
