JJ's heart split in two at Sophia's words.

After scrambling for the remote, her pasta and phone forgotten about, she turned on the news. She let out a muffled gasp at what she saw. Tears pooled in her eyes as she covered her mouth.

No. Oh God no.

Leaving her stuff behind, she ran to the front door, slipping her feet into her crocs before grabbing the keys to the jeep.

She didn't really have a plan, she was in too over her head, but she knew she needed to be with her Dad.

She can't lose him. She won't lose him.

As she started driving, she knew she was definitely breaking the law, but she didn't care at that moment.

Buck had done everything he could to give her a happy life. And he was successful, so there was no way she was going to lose him.

And if she was, she wanted to be there to hold his hand. Because he'd been holding hers since they met.

Every panic attack, every nightmare, every time she was too depressed to leave bed, he was holding her hand.

So she was going to hold his.

She wasn't ready to let go. Not yet.

She wouldn't lose hope.

When she arrived at the scene, her hands were shaking and her head was spinning.

She parked next to a bunch of police cars before stepping out of her car.

People tried to talk to her as she walked closer, but she pushed passed them until she was close enough to see what had happened.

She needed to see it with her own two eyes.

"Dad!" She let out a scream when she saw him. A scream loud enough that everyone within a ten-foot radius could hear her.

Buck heard it. That was JJ's scream.

That was JJ! Lift your head! He told himself.

He slowly managed to lift his head just enough to see in front of him.

He saw Bobby and the bomber talking, but if he looked past them, he could see his daughter, who was trying to fight her way out of a cop's arms.

"NO! NO! THAT'S MY DAD! LET ME GO!" Her screams hurt him more than the pain that shot through his leg. "I NEED TO BE WITH HIM!"

The pain in her voice was enough to keep him awake. He needed to stay awake. For her. He had to live for her.

Six years ago, if he had found himself in this situation, he probably would've given up. It wasn't nice, but it was the truth.

His parents couldn't care less about him. Maddie left him. He had no one.

But now he had her.

"JJ." He croaked, letting his head slowly hit the floor again when he realised she wouldn't be able to hear him.

JJ continued to fight with the cop, constantly trying to force his hands off her. She knew he was going it for her safety, but she just wanted her Dad.
