It had been a few weeks since JJ and Ashton's first date and things were good. They were set to go out again this weekend and JJ was thrilled. He made her happy.

She was currently waiting for her Dad to get home, as the pizza she had ordered had arrived before him, which was unusual as he was due home an hour ago.

He'd texted his daughter, saying things were taking longer on a scene, but it was still weird for him to be late home.

But she brushed it off, it was probably just a long day. It had been for her. School was more stressful than usual, and she just wanted her father to come home so they could watch a movie and eat pizza.

When he walked into their home, she confirmed her suspicions by the look on his face.

Buck looked exhausted, and a little sad.

"What happened?" She asked, walking over to him when she saw his sad expression. "Uh, sit down, so we can talk." She complied, worry starting to eat her insides.

"You're not sending me back are you?"

"No! God no!" He responded immediately. "Oh good." She began eating a slice of pizza.

"Eddie's wife, Shannon, she died in a car accident earlier." JJ gasped. "Oh my god." She was speechless.

She didn't know Shannon, they'd met at the hospital once but that was it. Eddie never got around to introducing her.

All she could think about was how the Diaz boys were feeling. Her heart ached for them.

She pulled her phone out of her pocket before sending Eddie a text.

She knew he'd be getting a lot of texts like that for a few days, but she wanted him to know that she was actually here for them, not like the people who were saying it to make themselves feel good.

After she put her phone down on the coffee table, she realised Buck had already set up the movie and set the pizza box on his lap so it was easier for them.

She leaned into his side as she grabbed another slice of pizza, leaning her head on his shoulder as they watched the movie.

Buck decided not to tell her about the bombs. He didn't want to worry her, everything would be fine.

He held her tightly that night because after a stressful day, being sat cuddled up with his daughter was exactly what he needed.

A few days later, JJ was sitting at her desk drawing when she got a call. Seeing May as the caller, she picked up the phone.

"Hey, girl." JJ put May on speaker, leaving her phone on her desk. "Hey." May's panicked voice startled JJ. "Are you okay?"

"Not really, we got a package." JJ chuckled. "Okay? What's got you sounding all panicked then?"

"You don't know?"

"Know what?"

"There's been someone leaving package bombs." JJ gasped. "What!? And you got one!?" She exclaimed. "Yeah, we're the third one." May sighed.

"Oh my god." JJ ran a hand through her hair. "Is everyone okay? Are you okay? Do you want me to come over?" She rambled.

"Everyone's fine. I'm fine. And no it's okay, I'll see you soon, I just needed to hear your voice to calm down." May's voice already seemed calmer.

"Well, I'm glad I could be of service." JJ tried to lighten the mood, which worked when she got a laugh out of May. "I'll call you later. Love you JJ."

"Love you, May."

How could her father not tell her about the bombs?

The sun had now set, and JJ was in the kitchen making pasta for herself, as Buck wouldn't be home until later.

She couldn't help but be on edge since May's phone call.

Now that she'd thought about it for a whole, she understood why her father didn't tell her. Because he knew she'd think the worst.

"They say I did something bad." She mumbled, sliding across the kitchen in her pyjamas whilst the pasta cooked. "But why's it feel so good." She continued to sing.

She soon added the sauce that she'd made separately into the pasta, mixing it in before serving herself some.

"Loving him was red." She hummed, moving to sit down in the lounge with her food.

But before she could, her phone rang.

"What's up bitch!" JJ greeted her best friends. "Get on the news." Sophia's shaky voice came through her phone. "The news? Was there another bombing?" JJ sat up, forgetting all about her pasta.

"Something happened to your Dad, Jayj." JJ's heartbeat sped up.

"What do you mean something happened to my Dad?"
