Tay thought for a moment and counted the number of people—there were almost sixteen, each carrying a gun. He grabbed a stone and threw it to the other side, far enough to draw their attention. One of the men said, "What's that noise?"
Another replied, "Maybe an animal. Don't pay attention."
The leader said, "No, you two go check the area. If anyone didn't drink, they might be out there. Go check it."
They nodded and went to investigate the noise. Tay then threw another stone in a different direction. One of the men said, "There must be someone still awake. Check the whole area, and you three come with me to find those two boys to kill. After that, we can bring the other boy with us."
As they nodded and spread out to search, Tay slipped into New's tent, carried him out, and hid him behind a rock, covering him with some grass. Then Tay went to where Key was sleeping and set his tent on fire before hiding behind another tent.
When the men saw the fire, one of them shouted, "How did this catch fire? Check inside quickly! If that boy is dead, the boss will kill us!"
They nodded and tried to get into the tent while another tried to put out the fire. Tay took the opportunity to find Arm, who was asleep on the ground. He carried Arm and hid him behind the rock, covering him with grass and leaves.
The men managed to stop the fire and saw their boss. "It's our boss! How did this happen? Someone must be here. Find them!" one of them yelled.
At that moment, New made a sound in his sleep. Tay closed his eyes tightly, thinking, "Why am I doing this to save that stupid boy and his brother? Now what?"
The leader said, "Did you hear that sound? It's from behind. Maybe he's hiding behind the rock."
As they approached, Tay slowly carried New and took him away. When Tay stepped on a dry leaf, it made a noise. "Who's there?" one of the men shouted. Tay ran with New, and they started chasing him.
After about 30 minutes of running in the dark, Tay stopped, laid New down, and hid him. Then he hid himself. Four people were chasing them. Tay devised a plan. He went to another side and tricked them by throwing stones. Two went one way, and two went the other.
When one man was left alone, Tay got behind him, covered his mouth with one hand, and grabbed his neck tightly with the other until the man stopped responding and died. Tay then went to the other man and did the same thing to silence him.
After that, Tay returned to New, carried him again, and led him out of there. After about two hours of walking in the dark, Tay stopped, laid New down, and sat on a rock. He took out his phone to call his men, but he couldn't get a signal. He tried many times, but it still wasn't working.
Tay muttered to himself, "Why did I do this? Why didn't I just kill Key and get out of here? But what I did was bring him with me and save his brother." He was frustrated and angry at himself. He hit the rock with his leg, causing a small cut. When he turned on his phone's light, he saw that there was snow almost everywhere.
Tay shouted, "Great, where are we? How will I get back?"
New shivered in his sleep, trying to cover himself with his hands, but it wasn't enough. His body was shaking from the cold. Tay thought, "I can't set a fire here; if they notice the smoke, they'll come here." New continued to sleep but was still shaking from the cold.
Tay said, "What do I do now?" He took off his jacket and placed it on New. Tay felt the cold too and muttered, "I don't know why I'm still doing this for that boy." He sat there for some time. After about an hour, the wind grew even colder than before. Tay, shivering himself, said, "It's really cold." He moved closer to New and adjusted his jacket on him again, trying to keep himself as warm as possible.
