Arm called out playfully, "Newwie!"
New, trying to stay calm, quickly replied, "I'm not worried about anything, P'Arm, and no, he didn't do anything."
But Arm, hearing New's defensive tone, wasn't convinced. "After hearing you say that, I'm sure he did something, didn't he?" Arm's teasing words only made New more flustered, knowing he was close to being caught. He could feel his face heating up even more. Desperate, New thought, Why does P'Arm always pick up on my mood so quickly? Someone please help me!
Arm, sensing New's growing embarrassment, continued, "It's okay if you don't want to tell me. You've already tried to hide so many things from us lately. I guess you're getting older and trying to figure things out on your own." Arm's voice was dramatically sad, but it was clear he was just trying to tease his little brother.
In reality, Arm had a pretty good idea of what had happened. The night before, when he checked on New, he noticed a red mark on New's neck peeking out from under the blanket. It wasn't hard to guess what might have caused it. Arm just wanted to tease his brother a little, knowing how easy it was to make New blush.
New, flustered, say "P', it's not like that! I'm-"
Before he could finish, Tay stepped in, smirking. "He's just embarrassed because I kissed him last night. That's all."
New froze, feeling like he was about to melt into the floor as his face turned completely red. The room fell into a stunned silence, Everyone was staring at him, and New wanted nothing more than to disappear.
Tay, staying calm, turned to New and said, "Hin, we're late. Let's go."
New, eyes squeezed shut in embarrassment, nodded and quickly followed Tay out of the room. He didn't dare look at his family as they left, feeling their amused gazes on his back.
As they stepped outside, Arm was nearly doubled over in laughter. "Did you see his face? He looked like he'd committed some horrible crime!"
New's uncle chuckled softly. "If you knew that, why did you tease him? He's so embarrassed."
Arm grinned mischievously. "I just couldn't resist teasing him a little."
New's mom and dad exchanged knowing smiles as they watched Arm continue to laugh. They shook their heads softly, clearly amused by the playful interaction between the brothers.
As they drove away, New slumped into his seat, pouting. "Why did you say that in front of everyone? It was so embarrassing! How am I going to face them when I get home?"
Tay chuckled softly, glancing over at him. "Hin, don't you get it? Your brother was just teasing you. There's nothing to be embarrassed about. Just relax and focus on your studies."
New didn't say anything in response, but he still felt uneasy. The teasing from his family, even if lighthearted, made him nervous about coming home later. When they arrived at the college gate, New moved to get out of the car, but Tay stopped him.
"You're forgetting something," Tay said with a playful smirk.
New crossed his arms. "No kiss for you today. Now, go away."
Tay raised an eyebrow. "Then no ice cream today, either."
New's eyes widened. "What? You promised me yesterday you'd get me ice cream today!"
Tay teased, "No ice cream until you give me what I want."
New rolled his eyes. "You're a bad boyfriend."
Tay grinned. "I never said I wanted to be a good one. Now hurry up, I'm going to be late, hin."
Sighing dramatically, New leaned in and gave Tay a quick kiss. "There, I'm done."
