Johnathan chuckled softly on the other end of the line, slightly amused by Reece's cavalier attitude. He knew Reece had the means to handle the situation, but he was still a little taken aback by the man's brazenness. "I'll give you credit for being resourceful, Reece," Johnathan said, a hint of humor in his voice. "But next time, try not to resort to illegal activities. It will save me some gray hairs."
"Say no more, if I ever need a lawyer I'll ask for my future father in law." Reece said with a cheeky grin as Tatiana just rolled her eyes and smacked his arm.
Johnathan couldn't help but chuckle at Reece's cheeky remark. He liked Reece's personality, and he appreciated the fact that the young man was able to make light of a serious situation.
"Watch it, son," Johnathan replied, his tone still amused. "I'm not a cheap lawyer, you know? And if you ever get into trouble again, it'll be your credit card at my disposal, not your charm."
Reece couldn't help but laugh at Johnathan's response. He knew Johnathan's words were partly a joke, but there was also a touch of truth to them. He also found it amusing to see how similar Tatiana was to her father.
"I'll keep that in mind, Mr Bennett," Reece replied, his tone light-hearted. "For now, I'll focus on keeping out of trouble. Or at least try to." He glanced at Tatiana, who was still sitting on his lap, and gave her a wry smile.
Tatiana grabbed the phone as she gave a small laugh. "Can you guys stop now? Arrange a golfing date or something, gosh." Tatiana groaned jokingly and smiled at Reece. "I'll try to join you and mum for dinner over the weekend— maybe Saturday after Reece's game.
"Chicks aye mate.." Reece repeated the phrase in a playful voice while shaking his head. Johnathan chuckled on the other end of the line. He knew Tatiana was teasing them both and he appreciated Reece's light-hearted way of dealing with the situation.
"You're right, sweetheart," Johnathan replied, his tone softening. "I'll save the rest of the serious talk for later. And son, thanks for being a good sport. We'll have to arrange that golf date soon, yeah?" Reece nodded, a sly smile on his face. He was glad to have regained Johnathan's approval. "Definitely. Looking forward to it, dad."
Johnathan chuckled again, clearly amused by Reece's use of the term 'dad'. He knew Reece was trying to earn his favor, and he appreciated the gesture. "Don't get too comfortable with that title just yet, Reece," Johnathan teased, his tone still jesting. "You still have a lot to prove to me as Tatiana's partner."
Reece couldn't help but chuckle and spoke up in a playful way. "C'mon, I've been in love with your daughter since I was a teenager— I'm family aren't I?"
Johnathan shook his head in amusement as he responded, his tone still playful. "Being in love with my daughter doesn't automatically make you family, son. You have to earn that honor."
There was a moment of silence, and then Johnathan continued, his tone turning a little serious. "But I'll tell you this, Reece. You've got potential. If you keep treating Tatiana right and prove that you're deserving of her, then maybe, just maybe, I'll consider you part of the family."
"I love the reminder of where Ana gets her wit from, must be easy having such quickness," Reece said with a smile as he got a little more serious. "I'd do anything I need to just to prove myself. I hope you know that, sir.."
Johnathan's tone softened even further at Reece's comment. He could sense the sincerity in his words and appreciated his willingness to prove himself.
"I've known you for a long time, Reece," Johnathan replied, his voice warm. "I know you love Tatiana, and I know you'll do what it takes to make her happy. But I also know you've got a bit of a wild side, and sometimes that doesn't always end well."
