*Elijah POV*
Judah and I made our way behind the portal, digging a tunnel towards hopefully what would be an opening that led to a Bastion.
"Elijah, have you ever felt like the moment since we've entered this Raelo that something's not right here?" Judah asked.
"Well yeah, it's because of the Redstone Beacon Herobrine and Entity 303 created," I replied. "Why? Is there something else bugging you?"
"I just have this bad pit in my stomach," he said. "I'm worried about... well... about mom."
He said it in a barely audible voice, almost a whisper. I've never seen Judah act like this. Normally, he's really goofy and tries to lighten the mood. I wonder what could be going on with him.
"What if we don't figure out how to defeat 303 even if we have the strongest gear ever? What if Herobrine won't keep his promise of returning mom? What if—"
I let out an exasperated growl. "Judah!"
He flinched and turned his head towards me.
I remembered something from a book series I read a while back. This was the perfect moment to put it in play.
"Don't focus on the 'what if's'. Focusing on your fears will only increase them, eventually taking over your mind. Anticipation of a thing can be worse than the thing itself. Only focus on the now to try to control your future."
We stopped walking. Judah stared at me, eyes wide with shock.
"Hang on, did you just quote Sun Tzu and Gameknight999 at the same time?" he asked. "Yeah, ya caught me," I sighed and kept digging. "I knew it," grinned Judah.
"Did it work though?" I asked. "Kinda honestly yeah," Judah admitted.
"Don't worry. We'll figure this whole Entity 303 situation out and rescue mom. Trust me," I comforted.
* * *
After what felt like hours of digging, my pick finally gave out. Luckily, Judah and I breached an opening in a Soul Sand Valley.
"Finally! I am NEVER gonna try to dig a tunnel THAT long again," I gleefully exclaimed.
Judah groaned out of exhaustion and fell to the ground.
"Let's see what we're working with here..." I said to no one in particular. We were a few blocks above an open platform of Soul Sand and Soul Fire. There were a lot of skeletons spread out around the area that we had to look out for.
Unfortunately, however, no Bastion in sight.
"Just great," Judah sighed. "All that work for nothing." "We can't give up this easily, Judah," I said. "There's still hope across that... giant... lava lake," I gulped.
"Yeah. Without having to worry about Skeletons shooting us off with their bows."
I gave him an annoyed glare. He shrugged me off and started running past all of the bony archers whilst screaming. The Soul Sand wasn't really helping him avoid the arrows, as it kept slowing his pace.
"Ugh! I really hate Soul Sand," I complained, following Judah's example of screaming and dodging all the arrows.
Suddenly, I bumped into Judah, who had stopped at the edge of the Soul Sand Valley. "Woah, woah, woah, ahhhhh!" he yelled as he lost his balance. "Judah, no!" I reached out to grab his arm, but was just out of reach.
I wish I had longer arms.
As Judah fell, a look of terror came across his face. Just then, a skeleton somehow shot an arrow and hit me in my back and knocked me off the edge too. It seemed to be the end of us.
"I hate Skeletons," I grumbled as I lost my footing.
Just when I thought it was over for us, a hooded figure seemed to materialize out of nowhere underneath Judah and I to catch us. As we teleported to safety, it felt like my breath was taken away for just a second. When my vision returned, we were out of the Soul Sand Valley and in front of a Treasure Bastion. I saw the hooded figure atop one of the pillars of gold blocks, looked directly into my eyes, then vanished.
"Who do you think that was?" Judah asked, still looking where the mystery person disappeared.
"Leeet's... not find out," I replied, still stunned at what just happened.
"Good call," Judah answered. "Whoever they were, let's just hope they're on our side."
"I mean, we spawned in front of a Treasure Bastion, so they must be."
"That's true," realized Judah. "Okay, step one: don't get killed. Step two: get Netherrite."
"Let's do this," I agreed.
