Marjorie's Daughter

Chapter 4

Evie looks at the red head whilst sitting down and cuddling with her mum "yeah my married name is Doyle but my maiden name is Roberts, Macey is named after my big sister who I never met" Evie explains to her "Marjorie you have another daughter" Autumn ask this time "I have a step-daughter who I have never met it was my husband's daughter from his first marriage, however I loved her even though I had never met her" Marjorie explains to the group, bringing her daughter closer to her.

"I didn't know you was married and I have known you for 10 years" Charlotte asks shocked at what she was learning about her oldest friend tonight "I kept my life separate I liked to keep my family close, my husband did everything to get his oldest back but his ex-wife threatened to hurt her if he didn't stop trying to get custody" Marjorie explains sighing "I'm actually meeting her tomorrow I eventually found her she was hard to track down but she agreed to meet me" Evie explains "even though I've never met my sister; my papa always made sure I knew about my big sister Amelia, I used to ask for her constantly calling her Mimi, he used to show me pictures of her and tell me stories about" Evie carries on smiling when she see Sorscha walk into the room "babe can you pass Mia and Charlotte that photo of me and papa" Evie says to her before she sat down, Sorscha grabs the photo and hands it to Charlotte before sitting next to her wife and placing her feet on her lap.

Evie settles into her mum and wife feeling safe when they heard a gasp from Mia they look over and see her with her hand over her mouth with tears in her eyes "you okay babe" Charlotte asks her girlfriend confused with what was going on "that's my dad" the red head whispers shocking everyone "what do you mean that's your dad" Charlotte asks looking at Evie and Marjorie for some help "mum do you know what is going on" Evie asks Marjorie "no I don't sweetie" Marjorie says to her daughter whilst looking at the red head, they watch as Mia stands up and walks into the kitchen and outside to the garden.

Evie gets up with a struggle "let me go" she says to Charlotte when she noticed she got up to follow her girlfriend, she leaves the room when she sees Charlotte sit back down; Evie walks outside grabbing a blanket because it was cold know that it was later in the evening, when she walks out the door she sees the red head sat on the step "do you mind if I join you" Evie softly asks the red head to not startle her. Mia looks up and see its Evenly wrapped in a blanket and a spare one in her hands, she nods her head and moves over so she can sit down, Evie slowly lowers herself down and thanks Mia when she helps her and passes her the blanket "can you explain who that is in the picture" Mia hears Evie asks her "the man in the picture is Max Roberts, he left when I was 12 and I haven't seen him since, I've been trying to find him ever since I turned 19" Mia explains to her "my papa always said that my big sister Amelia had the brightest red hair and the darkest brown eyes, he showed me a picture of when she was younger" Evie tells Mia whilst showing her another photo of a younger red haired and her papa, "that's me and my dad when I was 9" Mia says whilst looking at her younger self in the photo "he used to say to me 'Amelia Roberts you are my favourite girl in this whole world'" "wait your name is Amelia" Evie says to her.

"Yeah, but I go by Mia; I prefer it" Mia tells her "you're my big sister Amelia, the one papa told me about, you was meant to meet with someone called E.R tomorrow wasn't you" Evie asks her in shocked "yeah she said she was my half-sister on my dad's side, that's you isn't it" Mia asks the woman "Yeah that was me, I didn't expect to meet you like this" Evie explains to her "I can't believe after all this time my dad wanted me and I have a sister, sister-in-law and niece" Mia says in shock looking at her little sister "you also have a mum in there who has loved you since she knew about you, mum married dad 2 years after meeting him, they tried everything to get you back, mum gave birth to me when you would have been 14 when I was born, your mum threatened to kill you if papa tried anything so papa stopped but they both made sure I knew my big sister and I made sure that Macey knew her Autie Mimi" Evie explains to her sister, she knew it was going to be a long road before they are comfortable and have a proper relationship.

"How old are you, what happened to our dad" Mia asks Evie, she noticed Evie stiffened at the second question but waited to hear the answer "I'm 24, mum was 25 when I was born; me and Sorscha got married at 19 and a year later I was pregnant with Macey and 4 years ago Macey Amelia Roberts Doyle was born, after Sorscha held her; papa was the next person to hold her. He adored her and Macey loved him so much" Evie explains, Mia understood how Marjorie had a 24 year old daughter how she was old enough to be her own mother 'well she technically was her mum' Mia thought to herself "what happened to dad" Mia asks Evie again "2 years ago me and papa was on the way picking up Macey from nursery, however we never made it, a drunk driver ran a red light and hit papa's car, our car flipped and rolled from the impact, I was knocked out but when I came round I couldn't move and realised that we was upside down; I looked over and saw papa looking at me, he was beat up and barley breathing I reached out and he looked at me and said 'tell Amelia and your mother I love them and I love you I'm so proud of what you have achieved, he then took his last breath by the time the paramedics came it was too late, I got lucky I came out with a scar on my side and cuts and bruises but I see that moment everyday" Evie explain to Mia with tears coming down her face.

Mia couldn't believe what she was hearing her dad was gone and she never got to say goodbye, she felt arms wrap around her and pulled her close, she just sobbed for the loss of her dad "I know, he was so proud of you Mimi he loved you every day he made sure that I knew who you was I have made sure Macey knew you as well" she heard her little sister whisper to her "I have something to show you and give you, can you come with me" Evie asks Mia who nods "you might need to help me up" Evie says with a slight chuckle when Mia helps her up, she grabs Mia's hand and gently leads her inside to her home office.
