Chapter 9

Evie woke up, the house was really quiet she rolled over and saw her wife and child cuddled up together she looked at the clock and saw it read 3:30am in the morning, she got up silently and left the room; she walked down the stairs and in to the kitchen to grab a drink, she stopped short when she felt a pain in her stomach she placed her hand where she felt the pain and looked at the time on the oven and saw it said 3:40; once the pain passed she sat down at the table breathing slowly, she grabbed her phone and set the timer so she could see if this was the real deal or not. She scrolled on her phone, she felt another pain and saw it said 4am 20 minutes since the last pain, she let the pain pass and then reset the timer

Evie walked up the stairs and into the bathroom that Macey mainly uses and ran herself a hot bath, once it was filled; she got in after getting undressed and let herself sink into the hot water letting it relax her muscles; Evie closed her eyes and just lay in the hot water feeling relaxed, she suddenly sat up when another pain hit her and made her groan in pain, she grabbed her phone and saw it has been 20 minutes since the last on again, she knew that this was real deal. Evie felt her back creasing in pain and knew she needed Sorscha to help her out the bath, she grabbed her phone and rang her wife's number she heard her wife's phone ring from their bedroom and heard Sorscha groan and grab it "ello" she heard her wife grumble her Irish accent coming through the phone "babe I'm in the bath not ours though, can you come help me out" Evie quickly said down the phone, she heard the phone call end and Sorscha's footsteps running towards her. Sorscha ran into the bathroom to see her wife lying in the bath "what you doing in the bath at 4:30 in the morning" she asks her wife whilst helping her out the bath and wrapping her in a towel "I woke up an hour ago and went to get a drink and had three contractions since then" Evie explains leaning into Sorscha "why didn't you wake me and what are you in labour" Sorscha quietly asks wrapping her arms around her wife "I think so my waters haven't broken yet I had one before I called you to come help me out the bath and you was fast asleep and I wanted you to sleep longer" Sorscha hears Evie explain "so you had one 5 minutes ago" Sorscha asks "yeah" Evie states.

Sorscha leads Evie to their bedroom where Macey was fast asleep "what clothes do you want babe" Sorscha asks "can you get me a bra and shorts" Evie asks whilst walking to the end of the bed Sorscha grabs what her wife asked for and helps her get dressed in to the bra and shorts, Sorscha remembers Evie wearing a bra and shorts when she was in labour with Macey, Evie told her that she felt restricted in anything else; "can we go downstairs I don't want to wake Macey up" Evie asks Sorscha whilst rubbing under stomach "sure let me just carry her to her bed so she doesn't hurt herself" Sorscha says whilst going to pick up Macey shushing her when she stirs and goes to place her in her own bed. Evie walks to the hallway and meets her wife at the top of the stairs, Sorscha helping her down the stairs, when they hit the bottom step Evie bends over in the pain from a contraction hitting her, she grips Sorscha's arm; Sorscha holds Evie and sees it's been 18 minutes since Evie had the last contraction, she helps Evie ride the contraction out and once it's over helps her sit down on the couch; Sorscha watches as Evie grabs her phone and brings it to her ear " hi it's Evelyn Doyle, I've been having contraction for over an hour I was wondering when we should head in" Evie says down the phone and Sorscha realised that she rang the delivery ward to see what they should do, she watches as Evie gives detail to the person on the phone before saying her thanks and hangs up the phone and turns to her wife "they said to wait till contraction are between 15-10 minutes or if my waters break then come in" Evie says to Sorscha "this is it looks like little nugget is making their arrival" Sorscha says to her wife getting excited "yes they are, looks like we will have a newborn on Christmas day to open presents with" Evie says back to her "we need to call mum and Mimi so they can come round to stay with Macey" Evie continues to say "I'll ring your mum and you ring your sister" Sorscha says whilst grabbing their phones and passing Evie her phone. Evie watches as Sorscha rings her mum before doing the same to ring her sister "hello" she hears a tired voice down the phone "char is that you" Evie asks "yeah it is Evie are you okay" Charlotte asks the phone whilst sitting up waking Mia up in the process "yeah can you pass the phone to Mimi for me" Charlotte hears Evie ask "sure hold on" Charlotte passes the phone to Mia "hey Evey you okay" Evie hears Mia ask "yeah everything is okay" Evie says to her sister deciding to tease her "so why you ringing" Mia says confused, then she notices Charlotte getting up and changed "I thought you would like to know that your niece or nephew has decided to make their presences known" Evie says before pulling the phone away from her ear when she hears Mia shout "WHAT, REALLY ARE YOU OKAY ARE YOU IN PAIN" Evie burst into laughter "I am, I have two minutes before another contraction hits, my waters haven't broken but could you and Lottie come round now so that you're here with Macey before we leave" Evie says she could hear bangs and things clanging down the phone before she hears Charlotte on the phone "we are on the way, sorry Mia tripped up on the blanket in excitement" she explains to Evie "okay we will see you soon" Evie responds before hanging up "your mum is on the way, she's picking up Autumn on the way" Sorscha explains to Evie before rushing over when she sees Evie groan in pain and quickly looks at the time 16 minutes since the last one she realised.

Sorscha helps Evie through the pain rubbing her back "I need to walk around" Evie gets out through the pain, she is helped up by Sorscha and starts to pace the living room, Sorscha watched as Evie held her back as she walked and kept pulling her hair out of her face; 10 minutes later Sorscha gets up when there is a knock at the door "I'll only be a minute" she tells Evie who waves her hand at her and keeps pacing the floor; she opens the door and sees Marjorie, Autumn, Mia and Charlotte stood there "come in Evie is in the living room" she says and leaves them to enter by themselves running back to the living room. "Babe everyone is here" Sorscha says to Evie "okay" Evie just says and leans against the back of couch to rest for a minute, everyone walks into the living room to see Evie leaning against Sorscha behind the couch "hi baby girl how you doing" Marjorie says to her daughter "I'm okay mama" Evie says to her mum before gasping when she felt a pop like sensation "you okay babe" Sorscha asks when she heard Evie gasp and sees her looking down, she follows Evie's gaze and notices a wet patch on the wooden floor "okay lets gets you moved and changed babe" Sorscha whispers to Evie.

Evie went to respond before nearly falling over when the worst contraction hit "15 minutes" she whispers to Sorscha when the pain stops "let me run upstairs and grab you a new pair of shorts ok" Sorcha says to her "don't leave me" Evie whispers to her Sorscha looks at everyone to see them staring not hearing what her and Evie have said "Marjorie can you go upstairs and grab a pair of shorts Eves waters have broken and a towel please" Sorscha asks her mother-in-law who rushed upstairs to grab what was asked before running back downstairs and handing Sorscha the items.

Sorscha walked over to her wife "can I help you get out of your shorts babe" she asks her wife "yes, then can we go please" Evie asks Sorscha who nods and bends down to remove her shorts and wipes her legs dry before replacing them with the dry pair, everyone had walked into the kitchen so that Sorscha and Evie had a moment together. "Sorscha" Evie says quietly "yeah babe" Sorscha says whilst standing up and bringing her close she knew this was emotional for Evie her emotions were everywhere "you know how we had mama and your mum at Macey's birth" Evie asks her "yeah I do" Sorscha says swaying them "I know we agreed to have no one this time but how would you feel about Mia being there" Evie asks not sure how she would feel about this "I'm okay with that but how about we bring Autumn as well we had 2 others at Macey's birth how about we do them same" Sorscha says and she noticed that Evie had tears in her eyes "hey it's ok how about we get going after the next contraction which should be hitting soon" as soon as Sorscha said the last word Evie let out a groan and bent slightly in pain as a contraction hits her 15 minutes later.

Once the contraction was over Evie looked at the clock in the living room and saw it was 5:20am "lets get going" Evie says to Sorscha before walking into the kitchen and noticed everyone sat around the table "we are going to get going to the hospital" Sorscha says letting Evie walk over to Mia, when Evie reached Mia she whisper to her so the others don't hear "it's up to you but me and Sorscha want you to be there at the birth, mama was there when Macey was born and we want you there for this nugget, we are asking Autumn as well" Evie looks at her sister "are you sure you want me there" Mia asks quietly "positive" Evie says "then I'm honoured" Mia replies; Evie walks over to Autumn and says to her "you can say no but me and Sorscha want you to be at the birth, we have asked Mia and she has agreed" she says to the brunette who looked shocked "what about your mum" she asks Evie "she was at Macey's birth, she will understand that we would want her to be with Macey, that was the plan anyway and Lottie is going to be here" Evie says "I want to be there" Autumn says before wrapping her in a soft hug.

"Is everyone ready to leave" Evie asks everyone before waddling out the room, Sorscha had explained to Marjorie and Charlotte that Mia and Autumn are coming with them to the hospital, Marjorie found it sweet that Mia and Autumn will be there and she understood why they had asked them to go with them. Sorscha followed her wife with both Mia and Autumn following quickly.
