"tsukasa, you know that's not right, nor what happened."
his eyes were glued to the floor, his fists were balled, clenching to the rough denim of his jeans. "yes. i'm sorry, but they told me it was correct. i even got them to review it..."
he sighed, pinching his nose and furrowing up his eyebrows. "sorry doesn't make a client happy," chohan said. "just because you said you got your coworkers to look over it doesn't mean it's right. you should have came to me first!"
he clenches his hand. "you always do this tsukasa! jeez, i don't know how i haven't fired you yet."
tsukasa swallowed, his eyes flicking to his watch. 2:31. "i'm sorry," he said, talking slowly. "i'll do my best to do better."
chohan clenched his teeth. "just, get out. i don't want to see you anymore right now," he said.
tsukasa nodded, unclenching his hands from his jeans and turning fast enough to give himself whiplash. he shook his hair into his face in attempt to hide it as he reached for the doorknob.
"have a good night sir," he said as he slipped out the door, grabbing his already packed stuff, (he finds himself stressing himself out over overstaying at work most of the time in fear of chohan,) nearly falling out the front door and down the steps.
he's always stressed himself out over walking at night, so he always, always walks too quickly.
his bag pressed to his hip and his phone pressed to his palm, he keeps his eyes glued to the pavement as he neared his house after far too long.
it feels like a year and a half has passed since he's seen rui, even though it's only been ten ish hours. he missed the way his hands felt on his skin.
as he nearly fell down the hallway, stumbling with tiredness, he unlocked the door with unsteady hands, nearly falling asleep in the doorway. he let his hands fall to his sides and his keys drop to the floor as the door closed a little too loudly behind him.
he debated for a while just laying down and sleeping there, but he felt a soft, warm hand on his back.
"you really need to close the door softer, the neighbors might wake up," rui said, blinking away sleep. "or, of course your lovely roommate that was trying to sleep."
he stared up at his face, trying to re-memorize the features of every part. "m'sorry," he mumbled.
he considered putting his hands on his cheeks, to see if they were as warm as they felt. he felt a gust of wind from a cracked window, his hair blowing into his face, making his hair scatter everywhere.
rui smiled, and then he frowned, and then he laughed. "youre so warm," he said, putting his hands on his cheeks almost like it was for him.
he smiled again, tilting his head as tsukasa stared up at him, completely dumbfounded. "don't look at me like that."
"what?"
"don't look at me with those eyes."
tsukasa blinked, his head spinning with ruis scent as his hand went up to cover his eyes, slapping his hand over them.
he heard rui let out another little laugh, his hands slowly stroking his face with the soft skin of his thumbs.
he heard rui shift, pulling him into a hug as nearly fell asleep there. "you're so funny tsukasa," he said, the smile even heard through his voice.
he leaned into the hug, practically falling into it as he quickly fell asleep. the last thing he remembered was the feeling of rui softly picking him up and walking him to his bed.
