**CHRIS POV**

I walked backstage to her dressing room, and I was just so excited to see her. After the day I had and the night I had planned for us I couldn't contain my excitement.

When I knocked on the door and she barely opened it I was confused. She wouldn't let me in, told me she was rehearsing the duet for a surprise performance tonight and I couldn't come in. I didn't even know who this duet was with or what it consisted of.

I went to my seat and just waited for the show to start. I thought back on how today went.

**FLASHBACK; EARLIER TODAY**

Frankie thought I was nervous about meeting my friends but that wasn't it at all, I was excited to meet them, but I had another appointment first. An appointment that was made at the hotel since I couldn't be seen going in somewhere and having it get back to Frankie.

I walked to a small office I was able to borrow form someone at the hotel and I walked in to find a friend of mine who owned a major jewelry store sitting there and he smiled at me.

"Thank you for meeting me." I said shaking his hand.

"No problem, I completely understand." Tony, the jeweler said.

"Did you bring the options?" I asked and he nodded as he pulled out the briefcase from off the floor and opened it showing me 5 options of rings, I had liked from pictures he had been sending me. I sighed looking at all of them trying to find the perfect one for Frankie. I saw it front and center in the case, teardrop diamond ring with a double diamond twist band. It was perfect.

"That was the one I figured you would pick

"That was the one I figured you would pick." Tony smiled at me, and I half nodded.

"This is the one for sure." I said.

"When are you planning on doing it?" Tony asked.

"Tonight, after her show on the bus. I know it doesn't seem perfect but for us it is." I said and Tony smiled.

"Whatever works for the two of you is perfect." Tony said and I smiled.

"Thank you." I said.

I went about paying Tony and walked out with the ring in a box and the box in my pocket. Tonight was going to be amazing, and the best part was Frankie had no idea.

**END FLASHBACK**

I was sitting in the box when the lights dimmed, and I knew it was time. I stood up and smiled.

Halfway through the show Frankie smiled and started talking.

"So, Nashville, I have a question for you. Have any of you heard of an artist friend of mine names Charles Kelley?" Frankie asked as everyone went insane. "Oh good, well Charles and I met up today and we have a surprise for all of you. Charles, want to join me on stage?" Frankie questioned as he walked out. The crowd went crazy, and he waved at everyone. I knew who this guy was, I had heard about him and a few of his songs. I watched him walk up to Frankie and he hugged her as well as kissed her cheek.

I didn't let that bother me even though he seemed to linger in the hug a few seconds longer than I liked.

I heard him and Frankie talking and then the music started.

The infamous duet, it was about time I got to hear what took her attention all day.

The problem was I wasn't paying attention much to the lyrics, I was watching how they were acting. Moving closer to each other, Charles taken ahold of Frankie's hand and the looking longingly at each other the entire time.

I watched this and my blood began to boil, what was she doing? What was he doing?

Okay, it's nothing, its them performing a song, she is acting, he is acting. Only the last look he gave her he wasn't acting. The final kiss on her cheek when they hugged again, lingered even longer than the first one...I didn't like this at all.

I sat down for the rest of the show and then at the end of the show when I usually would have gone backstage, I just headed straight to the bus, letting Hollie know where I would be.

I was sitting on the bus, leaning forward but my hands interlocked with my leg bouncing and looking at the floor. Finally, the bus door opened, and I looked to see Frankie.

"Hey, this is new. You never wait for me on the bus. Everything okay? You have people following you or something?" Frankie asked.

"No, that wasn't it at all, I just wanted to get here quicker than usual, make sure you came back alone." I said and Frankie looked at me oddly.

"What the hell does that mean?" Frank asked.

"You and Charles seemed pretty cozy on stage." I admitted. Frankie looked at me like I had lost my mind.

"What are you talking about?" Frankie asked. "Give me a little more context here Chris!" Frankie was clearly annoyed.

"You and Charles, Frankie! You kept getting closer on stage, he kissed your cheek twice, the hugs lingered! What do you want me to think?!" I snapped.

"THAT WE WERE ACTING!" Frankie yelled at me. "Shouldn't the actor know acting when he sees it? We have to sell it Chris, we have to be close and together during the song. I mean for god sakes Chris it's a love song! If you have to know though while I was singing to Charles all I was thinking about, was you and finally getting to see you after the show. Snuggling with you in bed, watching a movie and falling asleep in your arms. I just wanted to be with you!" Frankie yelled and I could see the tears in her eyes.

I just sat there, and my subconscious literally smacked me on the head. What was I doing? I loved this woman, and she loved me, I was wanting to propose tonight and now I ruined the night because I wouldn't tell she was acting on stage. Now that I think back on it, I could tell she wasn't really flirting or giving him any kind of look, not like she gives me. She was acting, she was playing pretend.

"Frankie...I -..." I started to say but she held up her hand stopping me.

"You didn't trust me, that hurts. After everything we have been through, after all we had to go through to get where we are, here we are on another type of road trip, and you hurt me yet again accusing me of cheating. I would have never thought to cheat on you, I never would have thought to hurt you in any way." Frankie said as her tears were falling slowly and I just sighed and stood up trying to walk over to her. "No, stop. I'm going to bed. You can stay out her tonight. That couch bench, pulls out to a bed." Frankie said, walking to the back of the bus to her room. She grabbed my pajamas and walked them back out handing them to me and I sighed as she turned and walked back to the room shutting the door and I heard the lock.

The sound of the lock was deafening, but not as deafening as Frankie's crying the rest of the night. I would really need to work on making this right.
