Whispered promises

Chapter 8

WCKD held Minho and Shadow at gunpoint, demanding that Carla make a choice. "Chose " a WCKD solider shouted towards her . Her heart, torn between the two, refused to decide. But WCKD, devoid of mercy, pulled the trigger and ended both of their lives before her eyes.

I jolted awake, my body drenched in sweat. As my heart pounded in my chest as I struggled to catch her breath. The nightmare that had plagued my sleep was still fresh in my mind, the images vivid and haunting.

"You're okay it's just a bad dream " Argent said towards Katrina making her jump a little at his sudden presence . Argent and Kate was by her side as soon as they heard the shouting from Katrina's room . Their expressions mirrored their worry as they witnessed Katrina's distress. They had been awakened by her cries, screaming and shouting , just as they had argent and Victoria been many nights before. Ever since she came home from the hospital .

Katrina's nightmares had become a recurring theme in her life, tormenting her sleep and leaving her shaken during the waking hours. She had kept the true nature of these dreams a secret, unable to find the words to convey the horrors she experienced each night.
Argent's and Kate exchanged worried glances, their concern deepening as they realized Katrina's reluctance to confide in them about what was actually causing the nightmares . Argent gently place his hand on Katrina's cheek turning her to him . "Hey hey look at me , you need to tell me what's going on " argent told her as a Katrina looked towards him her breathes quieting as she came back to reality . "Nothing , it's just a bad dream people get bad dreams dad " katrina whispered, argent didn't seem convinced by her answer . Katrina felt the extreme tiredness and sleep try to over take her sleep deprived body . Until it eventually consumed her entirely .

Argent went to say something when he saw Katrina asleep on his shoulder , he didn't want to wake her because she needed the sleep , she'd had barely any these last few weeks . He was growing further and further concerned about Katrina seeing how closed off and distant she'd been lately. She hadn't ask questions like someone else would in her shoes .

I had been pestering my dad for weeks about getting a bike for Allison. Every time I brought it up, his answer was a firm and unequivocal "no." But I knew how much Allison loved sitting on mine , and I was determined to get her one of her own. "Please, Dad, I promise she won't drive like I do," I pleaded with him, knowing full well that my own reckless riding had been a cause for concern in the past. "I swear Allison will be responsible, and I'll get there" I promised him .

My dad fixed me with a stern look, weighing his options. "Do you swear to me that you or Allison won't speed or drive recklessly, even when I tell you not to?" he asked, his eyebrows raised in a silent challenge. I nodded enthusiastically, a cheeky smile spreading across my face. "Yes, yes, I swear! Allison will drive responsibly, and I'll get there eventually."I responded .

My dad rolled his eyes at me, but I could see the playful glint in his expression. He knew how determined I was, and he could never stay mad at me for long. "Fine," he said with a sigh, "but my rules so if you break them you have to hand over your keys no questioned asked okay ."he told me

"Okay, okay, thank you!" I exclaimed, no longer able to contain my excitement. I wasted no time in getting the rest of the details sorted out, eager to surprise Allison with the news. As I rushed out the door, I could hear my dad calling after me, "And no speeding, you hear me?" I flashed him a thumbs-up, already imaging the pure joy on Allison's face when she saw her very own bike.

I woke Allison up to practically jumping on her bed and nearly on her in the process. "Happy birthday " I said making her throw a pillow at me and bury her head under the pillow . "Come on ... "I said pulling the pillow of her .
