"Back to your seat!" Coach barked at a student who had risen from his spot. Isaac and Boyd were sitting together in complete silence towards the middle of the bus before Isaac broke it.

"Stop thinking about it, man," Isaac said. "Like, you're not thinking about it too?" Boyd asked. "Well, let's both stop thinking about it," Isaac suggested, hoping Boyd wouldn't do anything. "I can't," Boyd replied. "Well, there's nothing you can do about it either," Isaac retorted. "You sure about that?" Boyd asked, looking back towards the lone alpha twin sitting next to Danny behind them.

"Everything okay?" Danny asked Ethan. "Yeah, why?" Ethan replied. "You checked your phone three times in the last five minutes," Danny said. "Waiting for a message," Ethan smoothly responded. "Anything important?" Danny asked. "No, nothing," Ethan lied.

In the back of the bus, Scott and Stiles were sitting numbly, using vocabulary as a distraction from the horrible truth. "Yo, Scotty, hey, yo, Scotty? Still with me?" Stiles asked Scott. "Yeah, sorry. Uh, what's the word?" Scott responded. "Anachronism. Something that exists out of its normal time," Scott swiftly replied. "Nice. Okay, next word, incongruous," Stiles asked.

"Um, can you use it in a sentence?" Scott answered. "Yes, yes, I can. It's completely incongruous that we're sitting on a bus right now, on our way to some stupid cross-country meet after what just happened. Incongruous," Stiles exclaimed. "Out of place, ridiculous, absurd," Scott replied, turning to look out the window. "Perfect. Okay, next word. Um, Darach. Darach, it's a noun..." Stiles started.

He looked over to see Scott's disapproving look. After everything that happened, Scott didn't want anyone else to get hurt. "We have to talk about it sometime, okay? And we're gonna be stuck in this thing for, like, five hours, so why not?" Stiles tried to argue.

Scott didn't budge, and Stiles sighed in defeat. "Next word, intransigent," Stiles said. "Stubborn, obstinate," Scott winced in pain as the bus hit a pothole.

"Oh buddy, you okay?" Stiles asked, looking over to see Scott's pained face. "We shouldn't have come. I knew it. We shouldn't have come!" Stiles exclaimed angrily. "We had to. There's safety in numbers," Scott reasoned, nodding towards Boyd and Isaac.

"Yeah, well, there's also death in numbers, okay? It's called a massacre or bloodbath, carnage, slaughter, butchery. Wow, that's all right," Stiles muttered. Scott winced in pain again, his forehead showing signs of sweat. Stiles didn't want to see another friend die. "Scott, I'm telling Coach that..." Stiles suggested. "No, no, no. I'm alright," Scott assured Stiles. "Well, you don't look alright. Would you just let me see it?" Stiles asked, seeing Scott's pained face and knowing something was wrong with his best friend. "I'm okay," Scott lied.

"Just let me see it, okay?" Stiles persisted. "Okay," Scott said as he lifted up his shirt to reveal a large slash mark that had been given to him the previous night.

"Oh, dude..." Stiles exclaimed. "I know it's bad, but it's because they're from an Alpha. It'll take longer to heal," Scott explained. "How come Boyd and Isaac are fine?" Stiles asked. Scott didn't answer but turned towards the window.

"I can't believe he's dead. I can't believe Derek's dead," Scott cried, leaning his head against the window.
