I pace around my room for a few trying to shake the memories , everything constantly having a one on one fight with my mind. I fell down my bed looking to the ceiling it had been my thought wall for a while . I looked up from laying on my bed to hear a knock on my door and saw my mom open the door .
I looked up from my thoughts, startled by a knock on my bedroom door. My mom stood at the entrance, concern etched on her face. Her presence offered a sense of comfort, reminding me that I wasn't alone in this turmoil. "You okay?" she asked gently, her eyes searching mine for any sign of distress.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Why?" I replied, trying to sound composed despite the emotional whirlwind inside me. My mom stepped into the room, closing the door behind her. She took a moment to gather her thoughts before speaking. "Look, honey, your dad and Gerard have a complicated father and son relationship. I want you to know that your dad hears you, and he doesn't agree with Gerard's decision, okay?"she informed me as I sat up on my bed .
A mix of relief and gratitude washed over me. It was reassuring to know that my dad wasn't blindly following Gerard's path. Knowing that he recognized the flaws in Gerard's actions.
"I don't think anyone agrees with Gerard's decisions," I replied, attempting to lighten the mood. My mom chuckled softly, and I couldn't help but smile at the sound."Come here, you," she said, pulling me into a warm embrace. I melted into her arms, finding solace in her presence. It was as if the world outside ceased to exist when I was held by her. In that moment, I felt safe, loved, and understood. "I love you," my mom whispered, her voice filled with tenderness.
"Love you too, Mom," I said, my voice filled with sincerity and gratitude. However, our moment of tranquility was interrupted when my mom noticed the frown on my face as I heard my phone go off and glanced at my phone screen. Concern etched my features and Victoria realized something was wrong.
"Everything okay?" she asked gently, her eyes filled with worry. I barely managed to tear my eyes away from the screen, unable to process the message I had just received. It was from Natasha a friend from shield , and my heart plummeted as I read the words.
"He's gone in his sleep."
Without saying another word, I knew I needed to go. I brushed past my mom, grabbing my jacket in a rush. "I have to go " I said to her .
"Wait ..Katrina baby what's wrong ..and where you going ?" My mom asked as she followed me down the stairs, her voice filled with concern as she tried to understand what was happening. "I'll be back shortly, okay?" I said hurriedly, not wanting to burden her with the weight of my emotions. Before she could respond, I left the house, shutting the door behind me. The world outside seemed numbingly cold and distant as I made my way to a nearby alley. I leaned against the wall, unable to hold back the flood of tears any longer.
My heart shattered as the reality sank in. He was gone-forever. The person who had meant so much to me, whose presence had brought joy and comfort, was no longer a part of my life. The pain was overwhelming, consuming every inch of my being.
I wiped away the tears that streamed down my face, feeling the sting in my eyes from crying. My phone continued to buzz with messages from my parents, but I couldn't bring myself to respond. I needed space, time to process my grief, and find a way to cope with the immense loss.
I attended Sebastian funeral in London after Natasha gave me the location of his funeral.
"Now I'd like Luke carter to say a few words " a priest said as I felt Natasha nudge my shoulder and I looked up to see my neighbour from my old apartment from when I was in between deployments away from home . "Sebastian carter was known to most to be the founder of Shield , but I just knew him as uncle seb . He had a photograph in his office of him standing next to Obama , as a kid that was pretty cool , but that was a lot to live up too . Which is why I never told anyone we were related " Luke explained as the stands speaker before glancing to me in the front row beside Natasha . "I asked him once how he managed to master diplomacy and espionage when a time no one wanted to see you succeed and either and he told me to compromise where you can , where you can't don't . Even if everyone is telling you something wrong is something right . Even if the whole world is telling you to move , it is your duty to plant yourself like a tree and look them in the eye and say no you move . " Luke spoke towards the audience . "We spent our best time the past few years I asked him out of all of his achievements which he was most proud of , he patted my shoulder and smiled and said I'm afraid that's classified" he said earning a little chuckle from the audience .
