I unwrapped the new parts of my bike and placed them on before I had to head to school . My hand went to my neck not feeling my necklace there a pang of sadness washed over me . The necklace was all I had left of my father , his last gift to me .
Victoria's heart raced as she descended the stairs, drawn by the commotion that had disrupted the tranquility of the early morning. She couldn't help but wonder what could have caused such a disturbance. As she reached the bottom step, she caught sight of her husband, Argent, surrounded by a chaotic mess of boxes from the under stairs cupboard. Intrigued and concerned, Victoria approached him, her eyes scanning the disarray.
"What's got you up this early?" she asked, her voice filled with a mix of curiosity and apprehension. Argent looked up from his search, a glimmer of excitement shining in his eyes as he clutched a specific photo in his hand.
"This is gonna sound crazy, but I think I may have found our little girl," Argent replied, his voice trembling with a mixture of hope and uncertainty. Victoria knew all too well that Argent would never give up on their quest to find their missing daughter. But she couldn't help feeling a pang of despair at the thought of another lead turning cold, leaving them empty-handed once again.
Her voice filled with defeat, Victoria uttered, "Baby, we've been through this a thousand times. Every lead we've had has led us nowhere. There's been no trace of her." The weight of their fruitless search pressed heavily upon her, making her feel sick to her stomach. It seemed as though they were trapped in a cycle of endless disappointment, with no answers forthcoming. The thought of giving up on ever finding their little girl tore at Victoria's heart. After all it has been 10 years since she disappeared.
Argent stepped over the scattered boxes, his eyes brimming with hope that refused to waver. He extended his hand towards Victoria, revealing Katrina's necklace. "Take a look at this," he implored, his voice laced with optimism. "It's the exact one I made, with the same engravings and everything."
Victoria hesitated, her hand trembling as she contemplated the necklace. She had experienced the crushing weight of false hope before, and she couldn't bear to go through it again. The fear of reaching the end of yet another lead, only to find their daughter still missing, threatened to overwhelm her. The officers words lingering in her kind every time there lead went cold that she might not be alive .
"Baby, please," Argent pleaded, sensing her hesitation. "I know you hate false hope, but just look. It's the exact same necklace." He gently placed the photo in her other hand, his unwavering hope shining through his eyes.
Victoria couldn't bring herself to let him down, to extinguish the flicker of hope that had persisted within him all these years. Slowly, she opened her hand and stared down at the necklace. Her breath caught in her throat as she saw the familiar pendant, engraved with the initials "K.A" The tears welled up in her eyes, blurring her vision as she turned her gaze to the photo. There, captured in the image, was their youngest daughter, radiating joy , her innocent smile and sparkling blue eyes perched on Argents shoulders and there around the radiate girl was the necklace , the same necklace they now held.
"It's the same necklace," Argent reassured her, his voice filled with conviction. In that moment, Victoria felt a surge of determination rise within her. She couldn't deny the significance of this discovery. It was a glimmer of hope, a beacon in the darkness that urged them to keep searching, to never give up until they held their precious Katrina in their arms once again.
"We can't ignore this it's too much of a coincidence , no matter how uncertain you may feel about it " Argent informed her , his eyes still gleaming with hope .••••••••••••••••••••
I sat on the outside bench shuffling through my bag for necklace to see if I had put it in there . I knew I never took it off but I needed to look somewhere. "You look like a woman on a mission " a voice spoke up as I looked up to stiles's standing there lacrosse gear on . "Something like that " I answered going back to search through my bag . Why did I pick one with so many pockets . "You looking for something?" Stiles's asked taking a seat beside me . "My necklace " I answered huffing in defeat not finding it there either . "I'm sure it will turn up " he reassured me , I know he was being nice but it wasn't doing any good at the moment. "I hope it's the only thing I have off my father's " I admitted signing in frustration. "Well you know what they say about lost things .." stiles said as I glanced to him a slight pause into his sentence. "They always find themselves back home .." he told me making me smile a little at the gesture . "I'm sure it will turn up " he said getting up off the bench . "If not I'll get my dad's search party out " he joked a little making me chuckle in response . "Thanks " I replied with a warm smile in which he returned before departing for lacrosse practice.
