"It's not that deep, okay?" Argent said softly to Victoria as he wiped the blood away from the bite on her shoulder. They both knew the implications of the bite, the looming threat that hung over their heads. But they refused to acknowledge it fully, not wanting to accept the harsh reality that awaited them.
"It's all right. I'll clean it myself," Victoria replied calmly, taking the gauze and alcohol wipes from Argent's outstretched hand. Her voice a hint of unease, a subtle acknowledgment of the danger that coursed through her veins.
Argent's gaze lingered on his wife, his heart heavy with a mixture of dread and determination. "It's not that bad. We don't know. We can't know. Not for sure," he whispered, his voice filled with a desperate hope that things could somehow be different.
Gerard, stood by the basement stairs, his presence a reminder of the family legacy they carried. Sensing his son's distress, he approached with a calm stare, his words measured and tinged with resignation. "It's a bite from an Alpha," he stated, referring to Derek, the one responsible for the mark on Victoria's shoulder.
Chris Argent's eyes met his father's, the weight of the situation pressing down on him. "She's my wife. Allison's and Katrina's mother," he pleaded, his voice cracking with emotion. The thought of losing Victoria, of the pain it would inflict on their daughters, was unbearable.
"And I'm the cold-hearted patriarch holding his family to its commitments," Gerard responded, his voice steady. "We all have our roles. Just don't expect me to play the poisoned king to your Hamlet of a son. Not with a full moon coming," he added, his words a stark reminder of the impending danger.
Argent's heart sank, the weight of the responsibility crushing him. "What about Allison and Katrina ? How am I supposed to get them through this? We just buried Kate," he pleaded, his voice filled with anguish. The thought of his daughters losing their mother, of the pain they would endure, tore at his soul.
Gerard's gaze remained unwavering, his words cutting deep. "Then tell me, how long is long enough? When exactly do you think Allison and Katrina will be emotionally prepared enough to handle the death of their mother?" he questioned, his tone harsh but laced with a hint of reluctant understanding. "They can't lose her too Katrina just got her mother back she just got us back ," Argent whispered, his voice choked with sorrow.
"Ah, you're getting your tenses mixed up," Gerard stated matter-of-factly, his words hitting Argent like a blow. "Your wife is already dead, and that thing over there is just a cocoon waiting to hatch," he added, his voice filled with a chilling finality.
Argent's eyes turned towards Victoria, who sat at the table, diligently but pointlessly bandaging her wound. A mix of fear and determination filled his heart as he realized the battle that lay ahead. The weight of the truth settled upon him, shattering the fragile hope he had clung to.
"I'm saying we need a new plan because next time one of us is gonna be too hurt to heal," Derek declared, his voice filled with a sense of urgency as he took a seat in the old bus. The weight of their failures hung heavily in the air, pushing them to reassess their approach.
"I get it. We can't save Jackson," Scott conceded, his voice tinged with resignation.
"We can't seem to kill him either," Derek responded, his frustration evident in his voice. The cycle of their battles with Jackson had left them empty-handed, unable to find a permanent solution to his transformation."But we can try to save him. Trying is better than killing him. And Jackson might be a jackass, but he doesn't deserve this," I interjected, my voice filled with determination. I knew the darkness that lurked within Jackson, the pain and struggle he had endured. Despite his flaws, he deserved a chance at redemption.
