CHAPTER 35

Selena stood still as she looked at the tunnel, still contemplating if she should be here or not, if she should reveal the whereabout of nathan and the entire vampire race. The voices in her head kept colliding, she was having a terrible headache and all she wanted was for those voices to disappear.

"Grandpa can make them go away, i need to take the shot."
Selena murmured

Holding her head and whimpering in pain, she attempted to climb into the tunnel but stopped halfway, then stepped back. She sat on the ground, gathered knees together and weeped, she was having a hard time comprehending what was happening to her.  Deep down she knew what her grandfather was doing to her wasn't normal, but it seemed to be the only way she could live.

"Isn't he the only option i have now? My child is gone, my brother has chosen sides already, my father can't do anything, and nathan.....nathan doesn't love or care about me...."

"That's not true."
A voice said, it was nathan's of course but she thought it was in her head, until he bent down close to her.

She raised her head to look at him;
"Nathan..."

Nathan wiped the tears off her eyes, hugged her and patted her.

"You shouldn't be here, i'm not in control of my mind, i could go berserk any second and hurt you."

"No you won't."

Selena chuckled,
"You're so arrogant. Can you stop pretending to care already."

She pushed him away and held her head again, she could feel the pain returning, the voices whispering again. Nathan took out the portion, he hesitated because he was doubtful of the moore hunters.
Selena saw it and quickly moved away from him;

"What is that? You came to kill me? Is that it?"

"Why would you think that?"

"You killed my child, killing me wouldn't be so hard."

"That child was mine too! Why would i kill my first heir selen? Your grandfather lied to you."

"No! You lied to me! You killed my baby!"

"I didn't kill our child, your grandfather did and he will kill you too if you go back in there!"
Nathan yelled, he was becoming more furious.
"Do you even know what your grandfather has been doing to you?"

"I don't believe you, i don't believe anything you say. Why did you want to turn me so bad, why did you force me into taking your blood if you didn't have plans of killing the baby."

"Because no human had ever survived birthing a vampire! Not to mention, a royal bloodline."
He sighed
"I wanted you to be strong enough selen, i...i didn't..want to lose you."

"You mean that?"

"I've never lied to you. I've always been blunt with my words and intentions, you know that."

Selena stared at him, the look in his eyes told her he was being honest, she let her guard down and took a step forward, but then there were men who sprung out from nowhere and surrounding them. A few approached nathan and got beaten up, so they all pounced on him to tied him up with a silver string;

"Well, well, well, if it isn't the great anderson himself gracing me with his presence."
Christopher said, he smiled at selena;
"You did well child, you led him right to me."

Selena looked at nathan and shook her nathan, the look in nathan's eyes had changed, the one he had on pierced her heart like a dagger was driven into it;

"You're one cruel son of an asshole. Poisoning your own granddaughter so you could control her, how vicious can you get."

Christopher laughed,
"I have dedicated my entire life to hunting your race, you just had to dig those claws into my granddaughter. I would say, you carelessly led me to find you."

"Fine, you've gotten yourself a royal blood, kill me already."

"No!"
Selena yelled

Christopher turned to look at her, her eyes teary and her lips quibbled.

"You must have been in pain for these past two days. Come, you need your shot."
Chris said, grabbing selena and dragging her along.
"Bring him!"

Even with the silver string, nathan knew he could have easily slipped away, but he was alone and he couldn't leave without selena, so he complied. As they dragged him inside, nathan took the opportunity to get a good look at the kind of facility, some axis was made with silver. That's why no vampire could escape, it was also wired to electrocute whoever attempts to scale through the bars.
They threw him into a big white cage, from nathan's observation, he could guess this was christopher's secret invention. He had gotten a glimpse when he went into selena's memories the day he drank from her.

"This will be your new home, i'm going to have fun torturing you."
Christopher said, then faced selena;
"As for you my dear,"
He brought out the serum
"Your shot."

"I can do it now grandpa."
She tried to take it from him.

"No, just sit still."
Chris said

"You're killing her with that!"
Nathan yelled

"Shut up! I'm preventing her from turning into you."

"She'll die if you keep giving her any of that."

"She won't. And you don't get to tell me how to cater for my grandchildren."
Christopher moore injected the serum into selena, then patted her head softly.
"Good girl. Now you need to go get your brother, i know you know where he is, he needs to get treated too."

Realization dawned on nathan, christopher didn't actually want nicholas, he wanted the to know the location of the vamp hive. If selena goes there, she would be luring christopher to his people, for the first time in a hundred years, nathan was frightened. The woman he loved was turned into a pawn, he didn't think his mate would be the one to betray him, he blamed himself for not protecting her enough.
